1. Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1971.

2. It originally consisted of the late Freddie Mercury , Brian May , John Deacon ,
and Roger Taylor.
3. Queen's earliest works were influenced by progressive rock.
4. But the band gradually started creating more conventional and radio-friendly
works, inventing new styles in their music.

5. In 1968, guitarist Brian May and bassist Tim Staffell decided to form a band.
6. The group called themselves “Smile”.
7. In 1969 Tim Staffell met Freddie Bulsara at Ealing College of Art.
8. He introduced him to the band.
9. In a year Freddie changed his name to Mercury and also changed the band's
name to “Queen”.
10. On the 13th of July 1973 they recorded and released their first album which
was called “Queen”.
11. Then they had their first major UK tour having great success.
12. After this tour the group released a new album called “Queen II”
13. The real commercial success came to the group with “Sheer Heart Attack”
released in November 1974.
14. The song «Killer Queen» from this album became their first hit.

15. The fourth studio album called “A Night at the Opera” became the most
expensive album ever recorded. It is considered to be one of Queen's finest
works.
16. The next album was introduced by the group at a special horse race at
Kempton Park. It was called ``A Day at the Races``.

17. In October 1977 “Queen” released their new set of works named “News Of
The World”. The cover for this album was drawn by the well-known Science
Fiction artist Kelly Freas.

18. The band's seventh album was called “Jazz” and appeared in November 1978.
19. Its packing contained an outrageous fold-out poster of the naked bicycle race.
Even Americans banned it from the actual album sleeve!

20. The band's first live album, “Live Killers”, was released by very popular
demand. Queen was proposed to write the musical score for the science fiction
film “Flash Gordon”.

21. At the start of 1980, the band were created their new album, “The Game”.
22. It was the first album to use the electronic synthesisers.
23. “Another One Bites The Dust” became the band's biggest-ever, worldwide-
selling single.
24. The band received a lot of awards, including:
- a 'Dick Clarke' award as best band;
- a top Billboard award for 'Top Crossover Single'; and
- Grammys and Canadian 'Juno' awards

25. The album “Greatest Hits” entered the charts as soon as it was issued and the
video “Greatest Flix” was the first real collection of commercial videos released by
any band.
26. The band's twelfth album “Hot Space” appeared in May 1982 while the band
was in a European tour.
27. In December 1982, Queen got into the Guinness Book of Records as Britain's
highest-paid executives.

28. In February 1984, the band released “The Works”.


29. “Radio Ga Ga”, taken from this album, became a worldwide hit, reaching
Number One in nineteen different countries.
30. Later another single “I Want To Break Free” an even more outrageous video
to this single appeared.
31. On the 13th of July 1985 “Queen” performed a short 20-minute set in the Live
Aid Global Jukebox. That event was a turning point for Queen.

32. Next album “A Kind Of Magic” entered the UK chart at Number One and
became a worldwide success, reaching Number One in most European countries.
33. The band released the six-minute long epic “Innuendo” as a single. It was a
great success.
34. Later in 1995 the world saw a release of “Made In Heaven”, Queen's
twentieth and final album.
35. Begun in 1991, the album was the last work to be recorded by the band with
Freddie Mercury.
36. Queen have been recognised as having made significant contributions to such
genres as hard rock and heavy metal among others.
37. Unlike any other band in history, Queen added a flavor of Opera to their
music that had never been seen before.
38. Queen used the technology and feeling of the age to capitalize on their lyrics
and music.
39. While Queen's music is impressive their lyrics is genial - so that's what makes
them such a powerful band.
40. At any age Queen can give you a taste of what real rock n' roll is. You can feel
the lifestyles lived in the 70's and 80's.
41. Having their millions of fans, Queen's music has effected people emotionally
on how they view life, love, and happiness.
