Inpage

Introduction
InPage is a word processor and page layout software for languages such as Urdu, Balochi, Persian, Pashto
and Arabic under Windows and Mac which was first developed in 1994. It is primarily used for creating
) ('hanging' calligraphic) style of Arabic script.
InPage is a standard Urdu publishing tool and is widely used on PCs where the user wishes to create their
documents in Urdu, using the authentic style of Nastaliq with a vast ligature library (more than 20,000),
while keeping the display of characters on screen WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get). Overall,
this makes the on-screen and printed results more 'faithful' to hand-written calligraphy than all or most
other Urdu software on the market. This is achieved while keeping the operation easy, akin to that of earlier
versions of standard English Desktop Publishing packages such as QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign..

Menu Bar
It is always on the top of the window. As can be seen in (Figure 1.1), It provides a user with
multiple options to interact. You can click on File,Edit, View, Format, Insert, Symbols,
utilities, Language, Window, or Help and a dropdown menu will appear giving you options all
relating to the menu name. For example, all the options in File have to do with your
documents, such as opening, creating, saving, printing, and so forth.

Status bar is located on the botton left corner of Inpage,
It shows the current opened page out of all the pages
and a zoom bar which is used to zoom in or out of the
page.

Property Bar
Property bar is located right below the Menu bar, it contains all the properties related to the
content on the art board which includes Font name, size, color, outline, width and many other
options to be explored as can be seen in figure.

1.3 Using fonts in Inpage
In order to change the default font
of a text, Just like other you’ll have
to select the text and click on font
name in property bar. Then select
the desired font and the text’s font
suppose we use Nastaliq font, and it
will be changed as can be seen in
figure.

Similarly if you want to use any
other font suppose arabic font the
steps will be same, Select the text
and the in property bar select the
arabic font and it’ll be changed as
can be seen in figure.
1.4 Font size and Alignment of text:
In order to change the font size of a
text, Just like other apps you’ll have
to select the text and click on font

1.5 Mixing different fonts
Suppose if you want to mix different fonts
in same document the steps are very
simple, Select the part of the document you
want to changethe font of, and change the
font as explained above.
Example we have a text written in Urdu,
1- Select the first word from the text. Figure 1.8
2- Change the font of the text document.
3- Select the 2nd word from the text and
apply different Font for example Arabic.
To type English in Inpage press “Ctrl + Space-
bar” in the bottom right corner you’ll see a
word “EN” written which allows you to
type english freely.

1.6 Typography
Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable
and appealing when displayed. The arrangement of type involves selecting typefaces, point sizes,
line lengths, line-spacing, and letter-spacing, and adjusting the space between pairs of letters

1.7 Import and Export files
To import and export files in Inpage you’ll have to click on Files in Menu Bar and then click on
import or use the shortcut key for windows which is Ctrl+Y. as can be seen in figure below:

Similarly to export a file you need to save the file first then click on files in the Menu Bar and
click on import or use the shortcut key for windows which is Ctrl+Shift+Y .
