READING WITH STAKEHOLDERS/PARENTS/ GUARDIANS
Catch up Friday doesn't just happen at school but
when they get home there is even more help from
parents. I gave an activity that they will read with
their parent or guardian and it will be signed. In that
way, stakeholders can also see the progress and
development of their children in reading.

READING IN PAIR
Paired reading is an evidence-based intervention which aims to improve children's
reading accuracy, fluency and motivation. By reading together with a reading helper,
children's reading experience is modelled and supported without attention being drawn
to their errors. This strategy encourages students to work together and supports peer-
assisted learning and cooperation through reading, listening, and responding to other
readers. In addition to fostering social skills, this strategy also improves students'
speaking and listening skills. When pairs brainstorm together, each student learns from
their partner. This can help students expand their vocabulary as they learn new words
from their peers and build on their prior knowledge.

ONE ON ONE READING
Reading aloud is one of the simplest and most
effective intervention strategies for students who are struggling
with reading. During one-on-one intervention, teachers often watched
students make growth as readers. This allows the teacher to closely monitor
the student's progress and provide immediate feedback and guidance.

Spelling instruction has a progression of skills that students will need. Spelling
interventions aim to improve spelling and is especially useful for children and young
people with dyslexia or another specific learning difficulty. This intervention is a great
way to support pupils with their spelling and the handy tick sheets allow you to track
their progress and assess their spelling of high frequency words.
