Contractual Appointment as Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

Applications are invited by the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal for engagement
as Senior Research Fellow on contract basis for the project “Preparation of Coastal and
Marine Biodiversity Resource Management Plan for Nicobar Islands”
1. Name of Position: Senior Research Fellow
2. No. of position: 06 (Six)
3. Period of engagement: One year from the date of joining, with the possibility of
extension based on performance and project requirement.
4. Emoluments: Rs. 42,000/- per month + HRA as per Govt. rules
No TA/DA will be provided to attend the interview. TA/DA will be provided as per norms
during the field visit. No other allowances are admissible.
5. Age: Not more than 32 Years.
SC/ST/OBC/Women/PD candidates will get age relaxation as per Govt. of India norms
6. Qualification and Experience:
(a) Essential Qualifications:
● Master's degree in Science (e.g., Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Forestry,
Wildlife Science) OR Master's degree in Economics OR Master's degree in Social
Sciences (e.g., Sociology, Anthropology, Rural Development) OR Master’s degree in
Geoinformatics/ Remote Sensing/ GIS.
● Minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying degree
● NET qualification or any other National Level examinations (eg. GATE etc) or has a
professional post graduate degree (eg.PGDFM/PGDSM/MBA/M.Tech).
● At least 2 years of research experience after obtaining the qualifying degree
(b) Desirable Qualifications:
● Field work experience in resource conservation, environmental monitoring, or community-
based natural resource management, scientific surveys, and assessments
● GIS /Remote Sensing Certification
● Experience in working with indigenous communities.
● Knowledge in Statistical analysis using various tools and applications.
● Willingness and physical fitness to live and work in Nicobar Islands for a large part of the
year
● Swimming and Scuba diving
(c) Role & Responsibilities
Conduct research activities in terrestrial, coastal and marine ecosystems in Nicobar
Islands
Design and implement biodiversity surveys and ecological assessments
Analyze scientific data using statistical tools and other relevant applications
Contribute to coastal and marine biodiversity restoration initiatives
Prepare research publications and technical reports
Engage with local communities for resource management planning
Develop and implement monitoring protocols for biodiversity conservation
Apply GIS/Remote Sensing techniques for spatial analysis and mapping
Contribute to the development of management plans and conservation strategies
Any other duties assigned from time to time.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO THE APPLICANTS
1. Candidate will be shortlisted on the basis of their qualification and experience. Short
listed candidates will be informed through email for appearing before an interview
committee.
2. The selected candidates are expected to work under the supervision of the concerned
Project Leader, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal and will have to join
immediately after their selection. Also required to travel extensively in the Nicobar
Group of Islands, often in difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.
3. Recent photograph is to be uploaded.
4. All copies of the self-attested certificates should be attached (School/College such as
Transfer Certificate, Mark Sheet, Degree Certificates etc.).
5. The original certificates are to be produced for verification at the time of interview.
6. The date & time of interview will be informed through Email.
7. Application received after the last date of submission is summarily rejected.

9. The Director, IIFM reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete
information provided by the candidate or for any other reason.

Please note that this is a project-related contractual position and has nothing to do with the
permanent establishment of IIFM, Bhopal. Based on these positions, any claim for regular
appointment in IIFM will not be entertained.
