Example Problems Set5

The document presents example problems related to structural analysis, focusing on calculating maximum shear forces and bending moments in beams and bridges under various loads. It includes scenarios involving distributed and concentrated live loads, as well as the influence of moving loads on structural members. The problems aim to enhance understanding of load effects on structural integrity.

CE272: Structural Analysis

Example Problems - Set 5

1. The beam supports a live load which consists of a distributed part of 1.5 kN/m and a
concentrated part of 8 kN, in addition to dead load of 2kN/m. Determine the maximum
positive shear force and the maximum postive bending moment at C?

2. Determine the maximum positive bending moment at point C on the bridge (single girder)
caused by the moving load.

3. The truck has a mass of 4 Mg and mass center at G1, and the trailer has a mass of 1 Mg and
mass center at G2. Determine the absolute maximum positive bending moment due to this
live load developed in the bridge.

4. Live loads are transferred to the top nodes of the truss. Determine the influence line for the
force in member CD.
