1.1 COMPATIBILITY
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Device IP Configuration Utility runs on
Windows(R) 2000, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 7,
Windows Server 2008, Windows 8 and Windows 2012.
1.2 KNOWN ISSUES IN THIS VERSION
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
None.
1.3 NEW FEATURES & ENHANCEMENTS SINCE v5.0.3
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The packaged Java Runtime Environment (JRE) was removed from the
bundle. Instead, we looked at the best practices for Java apps on
Windows, and the majority now use an independent JRE configured on the
host machine to prevent distributing older software which may have
bugs/security issues of their own. In this way, the end user can
maintain an up-to-date Java environment without having to wait for a
software release from us.
The Device IP Configuration Utility has been modified to function in
this manner. It checks for an instance of Java 1.8 or higher on the
host machine. If Java is not installed, or is older than 1.8, the
utility will display the message below (note that this is a
standardized message from the java executable windows wrapper.)
Clicking “OK” opens the most recent Java download.
1.4 BUGS FIXED IN THIS VERSION SINCE v5.0.3
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fixed a bug with newer JREs where a binding error could be displayed
even in the case of a successful IP assignment.
