The water cycle, or hydrological cycle, is the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the Earth's surface, powered by the sun's energy. It consists of five main stages: evaporation, condensation, precipitation, collection, and transpiration, which collectively recycle water and support life. The water cycle is crucial for providing freshwater, influencing weather patterns, and maintaining ecological balance.

🌧️What is the Water Cycle?

The water cycle (also called the hydrological cycle) is the continuous movement of
water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth. It is powered by the sun’s energy
and involves several important processes.

🔄 Main Stages of the Water Cycle

1. Evaporation
o Water changes from liquid to gas (vapor).
o Caused by heat from the sun.
o Happens mostly in oceans, lakes, and rivers.
2. Condensation
o Water vapor cools and turns back into liquid droplets.
o Forms clouds in the atmosphere.
3. Precipitation
o Water falls from clouds to the ground.
o Can be rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
4. Collection (or Accumulation)
o Water collects in bodies like rivers, lakes, oceans, or underground.
o Some of it may infiltrate into the ground and become groundwater.
5. Transpiration
o Water is released from plants into the air.
o Works together with evaporation (called evapotranspiration).

🌍 Why is the Water Cycle Important?

 It recycles water on Earth.

 Provides freshwater for drinking, farming, and daily life.
 Affects weather and climate patterns.
 Supports all forms of life.

💡 Fun Facts:

 Water in the cycle has been on Earth for billions of years.

 The sun is the main engine of the cycle.
 The process is continuous—it never stops!
