1. Define Icon
An icon is a small symbol on the computer screen that represents an application, a
capability, or some other concept with meaning for the user.

2. Discuss Windows
Windows is an operating system developed by Microsoft. It is one of the most widely used
operating systems in the world, especially on personal computers (PCs).

3. What is the difference between rows and columns?


The difference between rows and columns is that rows go horizontally (left to right) while
columns go vertically (top to bottom). Another difference is, rows are identified by numbers
while columns are identified by letters.

4. Discuss the two major parts of a computer


- Hardware: is the physical part of a computer that you can touch. Hardware carries out the
tasks and processes that make the computer work. Examples: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse
and Speaker.
- Software: is the programs and instructions that tell the hardware what to do. Software
helps users interact with the computer and perform tasks. Examples: Windows, Microsoft
Word, Excel and Browsers.

5. Discuss the process in creating folders on the desktop


1. Right-click on an empty space on your desktop.
2. From the menu that appears, hover over or click on 'New'.
3. Select 'Folder' from the next menu.
4. A new folder will appear with the name 'New folder' highlighted.
5. Type a name for your folder (e.g., 'Schoolwork') and press enter.

6. Name the five application in Microsoft suite


The five applications in Microsoft suite are:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Access

7. Discuss the process leading to creating screen saver on the desktop


1. Right-click on an empty area of your desktop.
2. Select 'Personalize' from the context menu.
3. In the window that opens, click on 'lock screen' on the left panel.
4. Scroll down and click on 'Screen saver settings' under the 'Related Settings' section.
5. In the screen saver settings window, select the screen saver you want from the dropdown
menu (e.g., Bubbles, Photos).
6. Adjust the wait time (time of inactivity before the screen saver activates).
7. Click 'Apply' and then 'OK' to confirm.

8. What is the difference between desktop and monitor?


Desktop is the whole computer system or workplace, while a monitor is the screen where
you see things from the computer.

9. Name 10 components found within the system unit


1. Central processing unit (CPU)

3. Random Access Memory (RAM)
4. Hard Drive (HDD)
5. Power supply unit (PSU)

10. Discuss the function of printer
