22(a). The ratio of incomes of two friends Jasmine and Aman is 9 : 7 and the ratio of their expenditures is 4 :3. If each
of them saves Rs 6,000 per month, find their monthly incomes. Also, if each of them donates 2% of her/his income
to a charity working for old age destitute, find the resulting savings of each. What value is indicated from this
action ?

23. The area of rectangle reduces by 160 m 2 if its length is increased by 5 m and breadth is reduced by 4 m. However
if length is decreased by 10 m and breadth is increased by m, then its area is decreased by 100 m 2. Find the
dimensions of the rectangle.
24. The owner of a taxi company decides to run all the taxis on CNG fuels instead of petrol/diesel. The taxi charges in
city comprise of fixed charges together with the charge for the distance covered. For a journey of 12 km, the
charge paid is Rs 89 and for journey of 20 km, the charge paid is Rs 145.
i) What will a person have to pay for travelling a distance of 30 km ?
ii) Why did he decide to use CNG for his taxi as a fuel ?
25. Mr Sharma and Mr Arora are family friends and they decided to go for a trip. For the trip they reserved their rail
tickets. Mr Arora has not taken a half ticket for his child who is 6 years old whereas Mr Sharma has taken half
tickets for his two children who are 6.5 years and 8 years old. A railway half ticket costs half of the full fare but
the reservation charges are the same as on a full ticket. Mr and Mrs Arora paid Rs 1700, while Mr and Mrs
Sharma paid Rs 2700. Find the full fare of one ticket and the reservation charges per ticket.
What difference you find in their behaviour and which one you will choose for yourself ?
26. Raghav scored 70 marks in a test, getting 4 marks for each right answer and losing 1 marks for each wrong
answer. Had 5 marks been awarded for each correct answer and 2 marks been deducted for each wrong answer,
then Raghav would have scored 80 marks. How many questions were there in the test ?
Which value would Raghav violate if he resorts to unfair means ?
27. While teaching about the Indian National flag, teacher asked the students that how many lines are there in Blue
colour wheel ? One student replies that it is 8 times the number of colours in the flag. While other says that
the sum of the number of colours in the flag and number of lines in the wheel of the flag is 27. Convert the
statements given by the students into Linear Equation of two variable. Find the number of lines in the wheel.
What does the wheel signifies in the flag ?
28. On a highway two places A and B are 120 km apart. A car from A and a second car from B start at the same
time. If the cars travel in the same direction at different speeds, they meet in 6 hours, however if they
travel towards each other, then they meet in 1 hour. What are their speeds ?
29. The sum of the digits of a two digit number is 8 and the difference between the number and that formed by
reversing the digits is 18. Find the number.
30. 2 Women and 5 men can together finish an embroidery work in 4 days, while 3 women and 6 men can finish it is
in 3 days. Find the time taken by 1 woman alone to finish the work, and also that taken by 1 man alone. What is
the benefit of doing work in team ?

31. One criminal is driving a stolen car along the road given by 2 x+ y=8 and second
criminal is running on a motor-cycle along the road given by 3 x−2 y=12.
Locate the point graphically where the police party should stay to arrest both the
criminals. Will you advise some more police on the y-axis to arrest the criminals.
