Introduction

I. INTRODUCTION

Analysis and design of multi-story struc

ture is a tedious task. FEM based softw
are are used to carry out the same. Ho
wever, use of these software needs lot
of experience and expertise. Lack of ex
posure and expertise in these software l
eads to inaccurate designs. To ease the
design of structures, a excel sheet with
simple user interface is developed whic
h can be used by almost anyone for buil
ding design. The excel is designed to ta
ke minimum input and provide maximu
m output. Building structures are usuall
y divided by grid systems depending on
their column location, which denotes ce
ntre to centre distance. This excel sheet
takes centre to centre distance as inpu

This project focuses on developing a ex

t any prior knowledge of software. The f

obtained by Excel after comparison wit
h E-tabs gives 90 - 95% accuracy. B. MS
Excel sheet is a very useful tool for calc
ulating the rebars of various RC elemen
ts such as footing, columns, beams, an
d slabs. C. These aid in the speedy desi
gn of buildings and other structures for
a variety of applications and are effectiv
e. D. For the design of reinforced concre
te elements, these excel sheets can be
used in conjunction with analytical soft
ware such as STAAD and ETABS.
