PART 1: Introductory Questions
Topic 1: Snacks
1. Do you like snacks?
Yes, I do enjoy snacks, especially when I need a quick energy boost. I often go for
something like mixed nuts or dried fruit, which are both tasty and convenient. Although
they aren’t always healthy, I find them hard to resist.
2. Do you think eating snacks is good for your health?
It depends on the type of snacks, honestly. While processed snacks that are high in sugar
or fat can be harmful, healthier options like fruits or yogurt can actually be beneficial
when eaten in moderation.
Topic 2: Weather
3. What’s your favorite weather?
I really enjoy cool and breezy weather, especially in the early mornings. It creates a calm
atmosphere that makes it easier to focus and be productive. This type of weather also
allows me to go for walks without getting too hot or too cold.
Topic 3: Jewelry
4. Do you like jewelry?
I’m not someone who wears jewelry often, but I do appreciate its beauty. I think it’s a
nice way to express one’s personality or style, especially for special occasions.
5. Why do some people wear jewelry for a long time?
Some people wear jewelry for sentimental reasons, like a gift from a loved one or a
family heirloom. Others may see it as part of their identity, especially if it reflects their
culture or personal values.
PART 2: Long Turn
Topic: Describe an invention which changed the world in a good way
You should say:
● what it is
● what benefits it has brought
● how it influences people of different ages
● and explain how it changed people’s lives
Sample Answer:
One of the most influential inventions that has had a positive impact on the world is the
smartphone. It's a device that combines the functions of a phone, a computer, and a
camera, all in one compact gadget. Since its launch, it has completely changed the way
people communicate, work, and even entertain themselves.
One of the greatest benefits of smartphones is the ability to stay connected with others,
no matter where you are. Whether through video calls, messaging apps, or social media,
communication has become instant and borderless. In addition, people can now access
the internet anytime, which has opened up countless opportunities for learning,
shopping, and doing business.
This invention affects all age groups in different ways. Young people use smartphones
for social interaction, studying, and gaming, while adults often rely on them for work,
productivity, and staying updated with news. Even elderly people, though they may be
less tech-savvy, can still use smartphones to connect with their families or monitor their
health using specific apps.
Overall, smartphones have changed people’s lives by making things faster, more
convenient, and highly efficient. While they do come with some drawbacks like screen
addiction, the benefits they offer in modern life are undeniably huge.
PART 3: Follow-up Discussion
Topic: Technology and Inventions
1. What is the most helpful innovation at home?
In my opinion, the washing machine is one of the most helpful home innovations
because it saves people an incredible amount of time and energy. Instead of spending
hours washing clothes by hand, we can now multitask while the machine runs, which
makes life much easier, especially for working individuals.
On the other hand, smart home assistants like Google Home or Alexa are becoming
increasingly useful as well. They allow users to control lights, alarms, or even order
groceries using just their voice, which is not only convenient but also helpful for elderly
or disabled people.
2. Why do you think people spend so much money buying the latest devices?
One reason is the desire to stay up-to-date with the latest trends, which is especially
common among young consumers. They may feel pressure to own the newest phone or
gadget as a status symbol or a way to fit in socially.
However, others spend money for more practical reasons. Newer devices often come
with better features, improved performance, and stronger security. For people who rely
on technology for work or study, upgrading their devices can be a wise investment
rather than just a luxury.
