Toastmasters Club Meeting Role - Timer’s Script

Before the meeting:

Ensure you collect the Timer Cards from Club Sergeant-At-Arms.

Role Introduction:

“Greetings Mr./Madam Toastmaster, Fellow Toastmasters, and Guests.

I am ____________________, playing the role of Timer in today’s meeting.

One of the skills Toastmasters practice is expressing a thought within a specific time. The timer is
responsible for monitoring time for each meeting segment and each speaker.

As Timer, I will time the Prepared Speeches, Table Topics Speakers, and Evaluators. I will be doing this
using the green, yellow, and red flags, which denote specific times.

The Prepared Speakers have

4-6 minutes (if it is an Ice Breaker Speech).

I will be showing the Green Card at 4 mins,


Yellow Card at 5 mins
Red Card at 6 mins and the speaker will be getting 30 seconds of grace
time to complete the speech.

5-7 minutes (for speeches other than an Ice Breaker).

I will be showing the Green Card at 5 mins,


Yellow Card at 6 mins
Red Card at 7 mins and the speaker will be getting 30 seconds of grace
time to complete the speech.

The Table Topics Speakers have 1-2 minutes.

I will be showing the Green Card at 1 min,


Yellow Card at 1.30 mins
Red Card at 2 mins and the speaker will be getting 30 seconds of grace
time to complete the speech.

The Evaluators have 2-3 minutes.

I will be showing the Green Card at 2 mins,


Yellow Card at 2.30 mins,
Red Card at 3 mins and the Evaluator will be getting 30 seconds of grace
time to complete the Evaluation.
Towards the end of the meeting, I will be presenting the Timer’s report when called upon by the General
Evaluator. Thank you.

Hi everyone, I am back with the Timer’s report for today’s meeting.

In the Prepared Speeches Segment,

Note:
1. If everyone spoke within the allotted time, mention that there are no disqualifications, and everyone
is eligible for voting.
2. If any speaker has taken less than or more than allotted time, omit their names and read out other
names as eligible for voting.

In the Table Topics Segment,

Table Topics Speaker 1 __________ has taken ________________(Mins-Seconds)
