The Perspective On Demography And Its Effects On The...
Every aspect on demography comes into play when combined into unison from the perspective of a
person s environment. Factors such as age, ethnicity, gender and class are highly important in
shaping a person s environment, where a different combination is met with a distinct response, thus
placing great emphasis on the understanding of intersectionality through the lens of the sociological
imagination. Through social ecology, intersectionality and the sociological imagination intertwines
together to connect social issues and environmental problems as interrelated, where to solve one
side, the other side can not be ignored. To help protect our environment, we must begin to consider
beyond the industry cultures, but on the combination of all our carbon footprint s effect on the
environment. While equality is important, does all the countries have to reach the standard of
Western societies, instead for Western society to meet the developing countries somewhere in the
middle. Perhaps Eurocentrism is not so great after all when its existence is everywhere. The China
Price provides an excellent example of the consequences of the industrial culture prominent in many
Western countries, in which this culture takes advantage of the poor and marginalized groups for the
economy to prosper, as shown by the abundance of goods made from China. The environment in
many cities are covered with smog due to all the manufacturing and its byproducts going on in China,
and through this means,
The Fuzzy Logic System
Artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques provide a qualitative as well as quantitative
assessment of the power system.
1. Fuzzy Logic: The Fuzzy logic system (FLS) is a logic system which represents reasons and
knowledge in a fuzzy manner for reasoning under uncertainty or describes in imprecise manner for
human interpretation. Not like Boolean logic and classic logic which assumes that entire fact is
either true or false, but fuzzy logic allows Boolean logic to tackle with vague and imprecise
expressions of human understanding. Not like the classic logic systems, it models the reasoning
for imprecision model that plays important role in ability of human knowledge to understand an
estimated or inexact answer for a question which is based on store of knowledge which is
approximate, not complete or totally unreliable. It is the best approach and way to go for fuzzy
logic when it is too difficult to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowledge of human experts forms the base of the accuracy of fuzzy logic systems (FIS). The
results of post contingent state of line power flows and performance indices are obtained using
Newton Raphson or any other load flow method .The membership functions for these post contingent
quantities are first recognized and defined and with these formed membership functions, the
computation of overall severity index is done to obtain the contingency ranking. For each post
contingent quantities which is obtained by the conventional load flow method is known by different
linguistic variable and with the membership function associated with it. The inputs to the fuzzy
inference system are line loadings, and voltage profiles indices and the outputs to the same FIS are
the severity indices, which are computed using the simple set of rules of Fuzzy. The post contingent
quantities of line flows and bus voltage must be
Conte Poem Analysis Essay

ENG 110.3
Professor Unger

Au Contraire In Conte by Marilyn Hacker, Cinderella shows the reader a glimpse of her life after
the childhood tale ends, a less happier ending than the original story implies. She feels trapped in a
constant state of misery and boredom in the royal palace. Without life experience guiding her,
Cinderella is in a dilemma caused by her ignorance of the potential consequences of her actions. With
the use of irony, structure, and diction, Conte shows how innocence and naïveté result in regrettable
mistakes that create life experience. The poem deviates from the basic fairy tale through the use of
ironic predicaments. Cinderella makes a bold statement from the beginning: ... Show more content on

The poem is in free verse with no meter and consists of twenty eight lines in one big stanza. The
poem has all the elements of a letter with the most conclusive evidence being at the end of the
poem: Yours, C (28). A letter is a personal form of writing and gives the reader an inside
perspective into Cinderella s palace life. Most of the sentences are declarative sentences, making
the exceptions more obvious in the poem. One of the exceptions is found on lines 17 and 18,
where the sentence ends in an exclamation point: Why not throw it all up, live on the coast / and
fish, no, no, impossible with wives! The exclamation point emphasizes the idea that she feels
trapped in her situation as a wife. She wants to find a way out of her misery. On lines 20 and 21
there is a question mark on each line: or cut my hair, teach (what?) little girls / and live at home
with you? Cinderella reiterates that her options are limited because of her minimal experience in the
world. Conte uses a couple parentheses within mid sentence. Cinderella uses the parentheses to
convey deeper explanation of her thoughts. For example, Cinderella writes, Ladies / ignore me, or
tell me all their petty secrets / (petty because they can t attend meetings) / about this man or that (4
7). She does not censor her meaning of petty. Her true feelings show in the letter and validate the
rough situation that Cinderella is stuck in. At the end, Cinderella asks her
The Argument Over Hills Like White Elephants
The Argument over Hills Like White Elephants Continues
Ernest Hemingway was an American author and journalist. One of his most famous and
controversial pieces Hills Like White Elephants is frequently discussed among authors and readers.
In this short story there is a girl and a American man sitting at a train station. The girls name is Jig,
we come to find out that she is pregnant and that the two are disusing whether to keep the baby or
not. They question each other to see if the options would ruin their relationship. Hemingway portrays
things to serve as double meanings. Two of the main subtopics and questions formed from this paper
is whether or not Jig has the baby. And whether of not the tense relationship between the two lasts.
Among the many authors who have their own opinion on what these things mean is, timothy Obrien,
who wrote, Allusion, Word Play, and the Central Conflict in Hemingway s Hills Like White
Elephants . In his paper he focuses on certain phrases to conclude his belief that Jig does get and
abortion and that the relationship between Jig and the American does not last. A professor at Illinois
state university by the name of Stanley Renner, author of Moving to the Girls Side of Hills Like
White Elephants , does not think the relationship lasts. Although the relationship does not last he
believes that the baby does. David Wyche, author of Letting the Air Into a Relationship:
Metaphorical Abortion in Hills Like White Elephants , he is not
How Do You Perceive the Historical Transformation from the...
During the sixth century, after the fall of the Roman Empire, the Merovingian rule had little or no
power. The mayor of the palace, Pepin the short, held the power of the empire. In 752 Pepin
dethroned the last Merovingian king and took the throne for himself and restored the power to the
monarchy. He shared the kingdom with his brother Carloman. They ruled the land in harmony. Ten
years later PopeStephen crowned Pepin, and thereby solidifying his right to the throne. He had a son
named Charlemagne, who later became king and was referred to as Charles the Great . This
honorable name was bestowed upon him because he was the first king to re establish order to this

Not only was he a leader to his people, he wanted to spend time with them, he would invite not
only his son to bathe with him, but his nobles and friends as well and occasionally even a crowd
of his attendants and bodyguards, so that sometimes over a hundred men or more would be in the
water together (pg. 77). He improved his people s lives in so many different ways. He had many
projects which aimed at making his kingdom more attractive and at increasing public utility (pg.
71). He attempted and succeeded at certain projects. He restored and built churches, bridges, canals,
and roadways. Charles also worked to spread education and Christianity in every class of people. In
addition he set up money standards to encourage commerce.

Some of his outstanding projects were the great church of the Holy Mother of God at Aachen. As
well as the bridge over the Rhine at Mainz, which burned down. Charles initiated the reconstruction
of this bridge, one year before he died. He also began the construction of two palaces. He restored
sacred edifices, which had fallen into ruin because of their antiquity. He created schools for both
nobles and peasants. He tried to build the Rhine Danube canal and encouraged better farming
methods.

Charles was also concerned with the culture of his people. He brought scholars in to read from their
learned works instead of having jesters perform during meals. Charles revived church music. He had

Malaria Is A Preventable Disease
Part I: Background Malaria is a preventable disease transmitted by a female anopheles mosquito that
has a global annual death impact of over one million mainly concentrated in sub Saharan Africa
(Patricia Schlagenhauf Lawlor, Funk Baumann, M., 2005, pg. 6)(1). Although malaria is almost
unheard of in developed countries like the United States, in the early 1900s malariawas just as
prevalent as it is in sub Saharan Africatoday. The United States has eradicated local malaria due to
increased finances and physician led public health missions in the 1940 s in the form of the DDT
campaign(Humphries, 2001, pg. 2). However, in underdeveloped countries mainly located in tropical
areas, the death toll to malaria continues to rise due to challenges and barriers between accumulating
hefty finances, adequate resources and delivering affective outreach programs( Jennifer Kates,
Michaud, J., Wexler, A., Valentine, A., 2013)(3). Malaria thrives in warm and human areas that have
bounty stagnant water sources ideal for breeding and egg nesting. Once bitten by a mature anopheles
mosquito the incubation time between infection and showing symptoms is usually between 6 7 days
(Patricia Schlagenhauf Lawlor, Funk Baumann, M., 2005, pg. 10)(1). The common symptoms of
malaria like chills, headache and perfuse diaphoresis to name a few, exacerbate due to parasitic
replication and destruction of the bodies RBC. Once the cell is destroyed the merozites from the
RBC disperse throughout the

You might be asking yourself, But how are we going to do that? The answers is simple by
becoming a vegetarian.
If you re like me and have ever thought of experimenting with vegetarianism, maybe as a full on
lifestyle change or just to try vegetarianism out then this is the post for you. I am going to be sharing
the information you need to about becoming a vegetarian and how to get started.
What is vegetarianism?
Vegetarian: people who don t eat meat, fish, and chicken, they instead eat a variety of plant based
foods.
The word vegetarian however, involves 3 different types of vegetarians, which all don t include meat
in their nutrition, but have some minor differences. These 3 types are:
1.Vegans apart from meat they also exclude animal based products, such as milk, eggs, and butter
from what they eat
2.Lacto vegetarians these types of vegetarians allow milk and milk products into their nutrition
3.Lacto ovo vegetarians this last type of vegetarians include milk, milk products, and eggs into their
diet
Which type of vegetarian you become is personal preference. You could also start out as one and
then make the changes to shift to another type later on.
Personally, I am going to experiment with the last lacto ovo vegetarian.
Things to Know before becoming a Vegetarian
By removing meat from your nutrition there comes the possibility of nutrient deficiency. That s is
way it is essential to ensure you adopt a balanced vegetarian diet.

Shoshone Indians Essay
In 1804 I was asked by Thomas Jefferson to go to our newly purchase the Louisiana territory. I
left in 1804 with Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to find a northwest passage and tell the
Native Americans that we own the newly purchased Louisiana territory. Lewis, Clark, and I also
found many new plants and animal life. After we discovered that there was not a northwest passage
we started going back home. This expedition was very long it took us 2 years and 4 months.

On April 29, 1805 Lewis, Clark, and I spotted a gray wolves. The wolves live in prairies they can
also be different colors like gray, blackish brown, and a creamy white color. We also discovered a
new plant called the Missouri Milkvetch on September 18, 1804. It is purple with ... Show more

The Shoshone Indians were located east and west of the Rockies. They have the best horses but
they were also poor. We needed their horses to get across the the Rocky Mountain. When we stayed
with the Shoshone Indians we ate fish, rabbit, bird, buffalo, and rice, and we stayed in tepees. The
shoshone Indians are known for the Snake Nation.

Meriwether Lewis and William Clark could do many things like, Lewis could speak different
languages he was the lead of the boats and kept his eyes appealed. He s a loyal man and
disciplined person. Clark could map the unknown lands and he drew plants and animals. Clark was
a captain he could keep the crew under control he is also a leader. He went across the country and
wrote things down so that our new generations knew how we got the Louisiana Territory.

Lastly, Sacagawea. She was a brave young woman who showed Lewis and Clark what to eat and
not to eat. She taught them what berries, nuts, and plants that were good and edible. She also
helped them find a water route to the Pacific Ocean. Sacagawea is a smart and responsible woman
she took care of her baby while she was on the expedition with us. Sacagawea Showed us more
landmarks and she also helped the United States get more land so we could have a bigger nation. I ,
so glad that i went on this expedition because we found many new things like animals and plants but
most of all I liked meeting the Indian
Gran Torino Mise En Scene Analysis Essay
Gran Torino (2008) is best known for the significant theme of redemption and violence, which is
highly empathised throughout the film in sundry scenes. This can be further explained as the story
gradually progresses, and highly demonstrates Walt Kowalski as a defined individual. There are
many mise en elements which display the story and the significance of the theme redemption and
violence. The three mise en scene elements which empathise on the factors of the theme redemption
and violence are lighting, camera angles and props. The director (Clint Eastwood) also known as the
star of the film, highly utilised the vast elements of mise en scene, which is portrayed though scenes

Lighting is a great example used to express the feelings of Thao as he was in the dark and unsure
about the acts he was portraying. The acts portrayed by Thao were out of character as they did not
fit the characteristics of the indictable circumstances. Thao possesses the characteristics of a gentle,
scared and caring personality. The depth of the darkness in the scene also displays the darkness of
what Thao feels at that moment in the scene. Throughout the scene there is only one light (yellow)
displaying the confusion of Thao as he was unsure for the action he was portraying. The yellow
light displayed throughout the scene expresses their action as Walt was about to shoot Thao but he
escaped just after their collision together as displayed in figure one. The one light in the scene

daylight displaying the good of Thao as he was not afraid from the Hmong gang members anymore.
Walt is known to be Thao s alternative as Thao helped Walt with numerous tasks and in return Walt
gave him protection from the Hmong gang members due to his experience in the army displaying
redemption. Many facts and evidence display the theme of redemption throughout the
Benito Cereno Summary
Benito Cereno by Herman Melville centers around a captain by the name of Amasa Delano in the
year 1799. Captain Delano s whaleboat, the Bachelor s Delight, anchors on a small island off the
coast of southern Chile when one early morning, a wrecked slave ship appears. On the slave ship,
the San Dominick, Delano meets the peculiar Benito Cereno the captain of the ship, and Babo,
the servant of Benito Cereno. As Captain Delano begins to ask Benito of the ship s past, Benito
begins to have coughing fits where Babo answers the question for him. On one of the instances,
Captain Delano sees a large African slave by the name of Atufal, who is the only chained slave,
Delano inquires why is that so. Benito answers saying that all he has to do is pardon himself, and
so Atufal will be free, but he refuses to do so. Babo then pitches in explaining how Atufal was
once a great king while he says how he used to be a slave to a black man. Upon my conscience,
then, exclaimed Captain Delano, impulsively, he has a royal spirit in him, this fellow. He may
have some right to it, bitterly returned Don Benito, he says he was king in his own land Yes, said
the servant, entering a word, those slits in Atufal s ears once held wedges of gold; but poor Babo
here, in his own land, was only a poor slave; a black man s slave was Babo, who now is the white s.
Somewhat annoyed by these conversational familiarities, Captain Delano turned curiously upon the
attendant, then glanced inquiringly at
Compare And Contrast Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief
How can we modernize a story to make it more relatable and understanding to a new generation of
learners? The book, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief based on the original, The Legend of
Perseus, is taken and molded into a new take on ancient greek mythology. Percy Jackson and the
Lightning Thief draws on and adds to the original characters, uses similarities and creates differences
to rejuvenate the old story.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief has very similar plot types and structures to the original
The Legend of Perseus . However, there are a few essential changes to help restore the original. To
start, in the call to adventure Percy Jackson s mother is taking Percy to the beach and cabin to relax
and get his favorite blue candies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, theme concepts and how they are modernized to this generation of readers. First, in
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and The Legend of Perseus there is a common theme of
brains over brawn. When Percy Jackson is left in the arch by Grover and Annabeth he realizes that
the woman and her chihuahua are monsters sent by Hades and when Percy discovers their real
identities he jumps out of a window blown up by the demons into the river. Annabeth stood behind
him... We can t leave you alone for five minutes! What happened? I sort of fell. Percy! Six hundred
and thirty feet? ( Riordan, 217)Percy used brains over brawn because he had to think quickly to
escape a dangerous situation. Perseus, after returning with his new wife to be and Medusa s head,
learned that the king tried to take Danae after Percy left, so the fishermen fled with her and went
into hiding. Perseus went to the king and used his intuition to bring out the head and show him
so then the king turned to stone as well. By thinking quick Perseus killed the king, his mother and
the fisherman came out of hiding, as a returned favor the fisherman was made king. ... when he
arrived at the fisherman s hut, he learned that Danae and the fisherman had gone into hiding. As
soon as the king of the island had gotten rid of Perseus, he had tried to carry Danae off. To save
her the old fisherman had fled with her. When Perseus heard that, he made straight for the king s
palace. Here is the head you wanted! he shouted, and pulled Medusa s head out of the bag.
Startled the king and his men looked up... (D Aulaire, 120). Secondly, Percy Jackson s story has
the theme of the underdog. In The Legend of Perseus Perseus had only heroic challenges and he
was never compared to anyone else. However, he did have to overcome challenges and rise up to the
task. When Perseus was shipped off in a chest in the sea and was

The equipment is also out of the price range for most college students. Students would be looking at
spending around $3788 for the kind of lab equipment used at DeVry. By creating an inexpensive and
portable oscilloscope, function generator, and power supply that fits in one box about the size of a
brief case we ve addressed the primary issues associated with this equipment. This project has
many applications and many future expansions and functions that can be added on. By having a
variable floating DC power supply, 7Hz 6 KHz function generator, and oscilloscope with leads
connecting to any circuit built, the comprehensive hands on learning tool would be ideal for most
DeVry students. Project Operation: There are three main parts to this project: the power supply,
function generator, and oscilloscope. There are a few hardware and software requirements for these
components. The power supply will require two wall wart power supplies connected to two
potentiometers to control the variable voltage and display it on the LCD. Then it will connect to the
student s circuits. The function generator can be completed in two ways. One method is to assemble
it through hardware. This would have little involvement with the 68HC12, but would allow a more
hands on approach. The other technique is to generate it through software. This would allow it to be
more portable, but creates more use of the computer instead of circuits. The function
