Epipelagic Zone
The oceanic zone is made up of three main zones. The epipelagic zone, the mesopelagic zone, and the
bathypelagic zone. The epipelagic zone is the surface layer of the ocean, and this where most of the
ocean life lives. The mesopelagic zone is the layer of the ocean below the epipelagic zone. Not a lot of
sunlight penetrates this area of the ocean. The zone under the mesopelagic zone is the bathypelagic zone.
No sunlight reaches this zone. Together all of these zones make up the oceanic zone. The surface layer of
the ocean is the epipelagic zone. This zone is from the surface of the ocean to about 200 meters down.
Since this zone is close to the surface the currents move at a fast speed. These currents carry nutrients
throughout the zone. This zone has most of the life in the ocean because the sunlight penetrates the water
here. The animals that live here range from whales to small phytoplankton. These phytoplankton use the
nutrients in the water and the sunlight to produce their own food. This is how the phytoplankton
survived, the phytoplankton themselves were used as food for other animals. Some of these animals that
eat the planktonare small fish but not only fish eat them whales also eat them. The temperature of the
water ranges from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This zone is also called the midnight or dark zone because no light will ever reach this far down. The
only light is from bioluminescent animals that make their own light. The temperature down there
usually stays between 35 39 degrees fahrenheit. This zone ranged from 1,000 to 4,000 meters down in
the ocean. The pressure is about 5,800 psi. The food source here is limited to the debris of dead material
that sinks from the above zones. A lot of animals stay still to conserve energy. Unlike other zones where
animals travel between zones, the animals in the bathypelagic zone usually stay in this zone. The water
here moves extremely slow and there is some downward current due to

A Basic Understanding Of Irish Law
To address this question, a basic understanding of Irish law with all its complexities and contradictions
is necessary. Irish law lays the foundations for all aspects of life within Irish society and just as society
itself is constantly evolving, so too is Irish law as it is being constantly updated, reviewed and amended
to keep up with the times and a modernising society. This essay will focus solely on the education sector
and the respective underpinning principals which guide, direct and influence practitioners as they work
within this sector. The themes of reasonableness, proportionality and equality form the back bone of the
Irish legal system and this is no different within the education sector. By focusing on the aforementioned
themes, this essay will discuss areas of health and safety, duty of care and negligence, bullying, special
educational needs, employment law, codes of behaviour, child protection and family law as well as
admission and participation policies and furthermore draw upon relevant legislation and appropriate
documents and cases to highlight the governing legal principals at play within the education sector. As
practitioners in this sector, one must be continually aware of the changing nature of society as well as the
underpinning legal principles which govern and direct all aspects of teaching, learning and administration.
Firstly, and before any learning or teaching can take place, health and safety take precedence. Therefore

First Persian War Research Paper
The First Persian War took place at the Battle of the Marathon near Athens and it was known as one of
the infamous battle between the Athenians and the Persians. In 501 B.C.E., a Greek tyrant named
Aristogorus provoked the Persian rulers by instigating an uprising in Miletus and Ionia to revolt against
the Persian Empire. In order to ward off the Persian Empire s wrath, Aristogorus reached out to his
compatriots on the mainland in Greeceof Athens and Sparta. Sparta refused, but Athens sent twenty ships
enough just to anger the Persians, but not to save Miletus. Nevertheless, the Athenians conquered the
Persian s capital of Lydian in Sardis in order to steal the golds, but they accidentally ended up burning
down the richest capital of Sardis.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
when the Persia s fleets of 20,000 soldiers and their top generals sailed across the Aegean Sea to reach
the plain of Marathon, north of Athens. As a result, the Athenians sent Philippides, the fastest runner, who
ran approximately 150 miles in two days to request the help of the Spartans. However, the Spartans
insisted on celebrating the religious festival of Artemis Carneia before going into battle. After the
Athenians received the dreadful news, the Athenian general named Miltiades and his outnumbered
Athenian soldiers marched to the top of the hills of the Marathon. The Athenian soldiers and Miltiades
charged down the hills in unison using the hoplite technique as they smashed into the lightly armed
Persian s defense lines and they strengthened their two wings as they pushed the Persian s soldiers
around and back into the sea. Most of the Persian s soldiers were either killed in battle or drowned in
the sea, but some of Persian soldiers escaped back to their ships. The Athenian soldiers who fought
heroically to try to climb over the side of the Persian s ships were praised and honored for their amputated
right hand when they returned home to Athens. The infamous Battle of the Marathon was the greatest
battle ever recorded in the earliest history of Ancient Greece. In addition, it was the first victorious Battle
of the Marathon for the Athenians and an unsuccessful First Persian War for the Persians, but it was not
the last battle
Automobile’s Contribution to Identity in America Essay
The Automobile s Contribution to Identity in America: Nostalgia, Nationalism and Status
Introduction
Over one billion cars have been manufactured world wide in the past century, with nearly 700 million on
the road today (Urry, 2006). As important as flight, computers, and mass communication, the automobile
has been a key contributor to the growth and globalization of our world (Sheller, 2000). While the
automobile is rarely the topic of sociological discussion and cultural study, this article will discuss the
iconicism of the automobile and how it contributes to an individual s identity.
For some this is the Volkswagen Beetle a car that embodies nostalgia and the by gone era of the 60 s
(Wilson, 2005). For others, the identity is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the post World War II years, the Volkswagen beetlefulfilled the niche market of being small and
affordable (Vanden Bergh, 1992). Some would say exploiting the Beetle as a marketing icon has
catapulted the entire fleet of Volkswagens into popularity after a slump in sales during the 1980 s and
early 1990 s (Kiley, 2002). Playing on American s love affair with the retro culture, the new beetle s
popularity has soared.
Not to be outdone by the popularity and retro culture of the new beetle, the vintage automobile still
holds its place in societal imagination (Wilson, 2005). The draw of the Beetle was deemed lucrative
enough in today s marketplace and young movie audiences in summer, 2005, when the new release of
Walt Disney Picture s film Herbie Fully Loaded , grossed over $60 Million in US box office receipts
(IMDB, 2005).
Other businesses have recognized the power of the Volkswagen Beetle as an icon, and only the very
intrepid have embraced it into their business model. In 2003 Apple, known for its individuality and
cutting edge, alternative computers, worked hand in hand with

Volkswagen to create a powerful media image and ad campaign to sell both the new Beetle and iPods to a
younger, newer crowd. Today s youthful generation not only demands the latest technology, but also
enjoys the nostalgia of the past that the Volkswagen incites.

Essay On Oral Health
During the second week of my internship at the Rhode Island Department of Health, I was able to get
involved in their grade school sealant program. Currently, there is state legislature in place that calls for
all students in Rhode Island, and most other states, to be checked by a dental professional at least a few
times throughout their childhood. If a child comes from a family that doesn t have the means to send
them to get regular checkups, schools offer the chance for these students to be examined and sealed at
no additional cost to the family. Studies have shown that up until recent years, many RI schools were not
following all of the requirements of this law. The lack of follow through has caused a decrease in the
quality of oral... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to collect this data, I first had to understand how the program worked and what service the dental
professional was performing. I gained this understanding through the meetings I attended in the office,
which went into great detail about what happens during the sealant program, and what goals the state was
hoping to get out of it. The results of the 2017 year showed a considerable improvement in the number of
children who received these dental checkups. However, the quality of the oral health within many parts of
Rhode Island is still below where the state would like it to be. Part of this issue is due to the confusion
around dental packages in regard to health care. Through Medicaid, all children under the age of 18 have
free access to dental care in order to maintain their oral health. Nevertheless, many parents are either
unaware of this, or they don t hold their children s oral health needs on the same level as other health
issues. Due to these incorrect assumptions, many children don t take full benefit of this opportunity while
they have it. In addition to helping with the school based sealant program, I also helped research dental
Medicaid coverage for pregnant women. Through my research, I learned the importance of maintaining
oral health during pregnancy. Many people don t know that a mother s poor oral health can lead to
extreme health concerns among their children. This is why RI Medicaid offers

Did you know that it took Tim Burton and 15 stop motion animators 10 years to
The Nightmare Before Christmas argument come up with the whole plot and then 3 years to film The
Nightmare Before Christmas? There is a huge controversy surrounding this movie. Some people believe
that this great movie was more of a Christmas movie. I believe that The Nightmare Before Christmas is
more of a Halloween Movie than a Christmas movie. My first reason for my thoughts on this movie
being a Halloween movie is that the main setting of The Nightmare Before Christmas is Halloweentown.
In my opinion I would say that only about 1/5 of the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas is in a
different setting. Jack Skelington, the main character, lives in Halloweentown. In Halloweentown their is
pumpkins, people celebrate Halloween, and everyones scares on Halloween .Everything in
Halloweentown is scary and Halloween themed. Those points are evidence for my first reason and so it

king because of his outstanding ability to scare anyone. Every Halloween everyone in the town goes
and scares people but Jack is the best one at it according to the everyone in town. Jack loves halloween
and always celebrates it with the town on Halloween night. These last few sentences are all evidence for
my second reason about how the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas is more of a Halloween movie
than a Christmas movie. Now it brings me to my third and final point that I will be
Restriction Digest Involves The Uses Of Restriction Enzymes
Restriction Analysis
Hayley Keller
Biochemistry Laboratory: BIOL 2324
TA: Manasa Madasu
Date Performed: July 14th, 2015
Date Due: July 21st, 2015 Introduction:
Restriction digest involves the use of restriction enzymes (also known as restriction endonucleases) to
locate specific base pair sequences in DNA. These enzymes cut, or cleave, DNA only at their designated
sequence, which is referred to as a recognition sequence. While there are four different types of
restriction enzymes (1), the only type that was worked with in the following experiment were type II
restriction enzymes (2). These enzymes have recognition sites that are mostly palindromic and usually
consist of around four to eight base pairs. They also require only magnesium (Mg2+) as a cofactor to
operate. Cofactors are molecules that bind to enzymes in order to activate them (3). Additionally, they
cut DNA only at, or very near to, their specified restriction site, unlike other types, which cleave at
various distances from their recognition site (1). The restriction enzymes that will be used in
following experiment are Hind III, PVU II, and Bgl I (2). Hind III recognizes and cuts DNA at the
sequence AAGCTT. It is isolated from Haemophilus influenzae (4), which is a bacteria that is the cause
of several diseases, including pneumonia, and meningitis. (5) When Hind III is used to cleave DNA, the
end result will have sticky ends, which means that there will be a few unpaired nucleotide bases on each

The American Cowboy
The American Cowboy The cowboys of the frontier have long captured the imagination of the
American public. Americans, faced with the reality of an increasingly industrialized society, love the
image of a man living out in the wilderness fending for himself against the dangers of the unknown. By
the year 1900 there were few renegade Indians left in the country and the vast expanse of open land to
the west of the Mississippi was rapidly filling with settlers. Cowboys represented a major part of the
frontier spirit and Americans were eager to keep the romanticism of the west alive. Throughout the 20th
century, western themed movies and books have been extremely popular. The cowboys of the west, while

He joined the Texas Rangers and fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. Oliver Loving was a
Kentuckian who also found his way to Texas during his early life. Loving was an experienced cattle
herder who supplied meat to the Confederates during the Civil War although, the army s ability to
consume exceeded the ability to pay and by the war s end, the Confederate States of America owed
Loving more than $100,000.00. (Hopkins County) Goodnight and Loving saw each others value in the
partnership and realized the potential money to be earned. With Goodnight s Indian fighting skills and
Loving s trail experience the two had great success. In 1866 they set out with two thousand cattle from
Belknap, Texas to Fort Sumner on what would later be known as the Goodnight Loving trail. Goodnight
and Loving used the trail in 1866 and 1867 but stage lines, emigrants, and drovers made frequent use of
the trail until almost 1900. Charles Goodnight ran the Ja Cattle Ranch after his herding days. The ranch
was very successful and at one point contained more than 10,000 cattle. Goodnight was a good man who
cared about maintaining the beauty and life of the frontier. In 1878 he saved four buffalo calves and by
1916 his 200 buffalo represented one tenth of the total number of buffalo in the United States. Most of the
legend surrounding Goodnight and Loving regard the unusual circumstances of Oliver Loving s death.
