Job Description
I Role Summary Mandatory
(a) Title: MS SQL Database Administrator -L2
(b) Band / Designation: Database Administrator
(c) Location: Hyderabad
(d) Reports to: AVP
(e) Summary: 1. MS SQL with 4-6 yrs of exp maintaining databases running on Windows & Linux
environment.
2. Should be well versed with installing, upgrading and configuring large databases and
mission critical large OLTP and OLAP systems.
3. Experience in MSSQL Database installation, configuration and DR setups
4. Experienced DBA involved with backups, recovery, replication, Always on and migration
of databases. Experience with user administration and performance tuning.
5. Performance tuning on large systems on MSSQL
6. Good experience in Clusterware administration, Configuration and Patching.
Involved with installation and maintenance of standby database for High Availability and
Disaster Recovery purpose.
II Additional Information Mandatory
(a) Responsibilities: •Strong knowledge of MSSQL Architecture & HA
•MSSQL Database installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
•Experience on applying MSSQL patches including CPU patch, interim patch and bugs fixing
•Established database backup/recovery strategy for MSSQL
•Performed cloning of database from production database to test
•Database Object optimizations, explain plan, query plan and supporting development
team on Stored procedures and triggering and others
•Creating and Maintaining Physical Standby database in MSSQL
•Managing logical backups using data Dump utility.
•Working on automation scripts for production databases.
•Automated database environment using SHELL SCRIPTS to monitor different
environments.
•Monitor hardware resource utilization, recommending to management additional
hardware necessary for forecasted levels, working with staff to maximize performance
•Perform testing of designed transaction processing environment, testing for performance,
stability, fail over, and new database versions
•Keep up to date on current and new releases of database platforms and technology,
planning migration strategy accordingly
•Assist in the development of automation scripts, documentation, and procedures for
database administration, testing, and production
•Database Transit and Encryption, Ensure data integrity and security according to
departmental standards and procedures.
•Backup Management, Recovery Management
•Prepared scripts for database monitoring and other space alerts
•Good Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
•Experience in MSSQL DBA
•Experience in Always on ,Mirroring and Log sipping
•Experience in working different OS platforms in Linux(Ubuntu, RHEL) and Windows
III Requirements Mandatory
(a) Education: B.E / B.Tech graduate
(b) Experience: 4-6 yrs
(c) Technical Skills: 1) MSSQL DBA (Primary) and L(Secondary) DBA
2) Linux and Windows
3) Shell/power shell scripting
