DAY 5: ENGLISH ONLINE MODULE: MY FAMILY

OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
 Identify and name basic family members in English
 Use simple sentences to describe their family
 Understand basic Filipino family values
 Practice speaking and listening in an online setting
PART 1: ICEBREAKER
Activity: Emoji Guess Who?
Teacher sends 👨‍👩‍👧, 👴, 👧 in chat or screen share
Ask:
“Who do you see?”
“Is this a mom or a sister?”
Students guess in the chat or say out loud.
PART 2: VOCABULARY PRESENTATION
Word Image Example Sentence

Father 👨 This is my father. He is a farmer.

Mother 👩 This is my mother. She is kind.

Brother 👦 I have one brother.

Sister 👧 My sister is 10 years old.

Grandfather 👴 My grandfather loves fishing.

PART 3: MINI READING – “My Filipino Family”


Slide or shared screen text:
Hi! I’m ______. I live in the Philippines. I have a big family. I live with my parents, two
brothers, and my grandmother. On weekends, we visit my cousins and cook together. We love to
eat and laugh! Family is important in the Philippines.
COMPREHENSION CHECK

PART 4: SPEAKING ACTIVITY – “This is My Family”
 “This is my mother. Her name is ____.”
 “I live with ____.”
 “My father is a ____.”
PART 5: CULTURE SLIDE – FILIPINO FAMILY VALUES
In the Philippines:
 Families are often big and close-knit
 Children often live with their parents until marriage
 Respect is shown with words like “po” and “opo”
 Family gatherings are common during birthdays and Christmas
Ask students:
“How is your family similar or different?”

PART 6: ONLINE ACTIVITY
1. Ask students to draw a simple family tree (can be stick figures).
2. Label in English (Mom, Dad, Me, Sister, etc.)
3. Upload in googleclassroom.
4. Say one sentence about their family.
Example: “This is my father. He is a driver.”
