Introduction
Genuine HID Academy Learning Paths provide training guidance on how to attain role-based knowledge and skills for a specific
market focus and career development. Learners enrolled in the HID Academy Learning Paths will be completing specifically
designed training curricula in order to achieve a desired level of proficiency in their area of interest.
The Learning Path levels are defined as follows and need to be completed in an incremental order (Associate first):
Associate (available to Direct Business Partners and APP): Develop core HID product knowledge and technology
fundamentals.
Professional (available to Direct Business Partners and APP): Develop knowledge of innovative & complementary
HID offerings to better serve your customer.
Expert (subject to availability): Extend your versatility & knowledge to specialized HID offerings.

Learning Path Curricula and Certification
Learning Path Curricula
Learning Path Curricula are available to all HID Direct Business Partners and Partners enrolled in the HID APP program.
Students begin their learning journey by completing the desired Learning Path curriculum starting at the Associate level. There
are 2 tracks of learning path curricula – Sales or Technical, and 3 segments in each track to choose from – PACS, Secure
Issuance, and Identity Assurance.
Each Learning Path curriculum includes a number of online courses and activities to be taken in a specific order.
The online courses include quizzes that need to be taken and passed in order for the course to be marked as completed.
Once all courses and activities and completed, the curriculum will be moved to the “Completed” portion of the student‟s transcript,
and the student can request the next-level learning path curriculum (e.g., Professional level).
Certification
For partners enrolled in the HID APP program, certification is available after completing the learning path curriculum. The
certification requires the student to take a final certification exam and is subject to an annual renewal.
Please refer to the Certification section later in this document for more detail.

Getting Started
1. The easiest way to find available Learning Path curricula is by clicking the “Learning Paths” widget from the home page as
shown below.
Note: HID employees do not have the Learning Path widget on their home page and will access the Learning Paths by navigating
via the “Browse for Training” and filtering by “Certification” and “Learning Path” subjects.
The list of available Learning Path curricula will be displayed as shown below:
2. On the left pane, under the “Learning Path” subject, you can narrow down the search results by selecting the desired
learning path level (Associate, Professional, or Expert if available).
3. Once you find the desired Learning Path, click the curriculum title which will display the curriculum details as shown
below.

Please note that in order to request a higher level curriculum, once must first complete the previous level curriculum (i.e.,
Associate before Professional, and Professional before Expert).
4. Click “Request”. The curriculum will be added to your transcript as shown below:
5. Complete all required activities by clicking “Open Curriculum” and taking all the required courses in the order indicated.
Note: If you have completed some of the online courses before requesting the learning path curriculum, these courses will
automatically be marked as completed and you will not be required to retake them.
6. Once all activities are completed, the curriculum will move to the “Completed” portion of your transcript as shown below. You
can view the curriculum completion certificate and the training details using the drop-down list on the right side of the
curriculum title.
Note: The completion certificate does NOT equate to certification. This document simply attests that you have completed the
learning path curriculum. Certification is obtained by a further successful passing of the final certification exam and is only
available to partners enrolled in the APP program and HID employees.

Completing Certification
Important: Learning Path Certifications are only available to HID partners enrolled in the APP program.
1. After a student completes a learning path curriculum, and provided that they are part of the HID APP program or an HID
employee, they will automatically be enrolled in the certification containing the final exam. Please allow 24 hours after the
completion of the learning path curriculum for the certification to be added to the transcript.
When the certification is added to the transcript, the student will receive an email notification as shown below:
The certification will appear in the „Active‟ part of the transcript as shown below. Please note that the certification‟s status will
indicate “In Progress”, and there is an Expiration before which they need to complete it. The Due date serves as a reminder.
2. Click “Manage” which will open the „Certification Details‟ page as shown below:

3. Scroll down to the „Certification‟ section. Under the curriculum title, you will find the certification exam as highlighted below:
4. Click “Request” in order to activate the exam. A window containing the exam description will open as shown below. Click
“Request” again.
5. Click “Launch Test” as highlighted below, and follow the instructions to take the exam.

6. If the exam is successfully passed, the certification status will indicate “Certified” as shown below:
The student will also receive an email notification as shown below:
7. If the student fails at the exam the first time, they can retake it one more time. In order to do that, they need to find the
exam on their transcript, and click “Retake” as shown below.
Please note that there is an automatic 48-hour lockout period between the 2 exam attempts.

Important: Please note that the certification is subject to an annual renewal. In order to maintain certification, the student must
renew the certification annually, before the Expiration date indicated on the transcript (in the example above, the Expiration date
is 1/4/2018). The renewal period opens 3 months before the Expiration date and the student will be notified by email when the
renewal period begins. Please refer to the next section for details on certification renewal.

Renewing Certification
Important: Learning Path Certifications are only available to HID partners enrolled in the APP program.
In order to maintain their certification, students must renew the certification annually. The renewal period opens 3 months before
the Expiration date indicated on the certification, and the student will be notified by email when the renewal period begins as
shown below:
Steps to Renew Certification
1. Once the renewal period begins and the student has been notified by email, the certification‟s status in the transcript will
indicate „Certified (Renewal In Progress)‟ as shown below:
2. Click “Manage” which will open the „Certification Details‟ page. Scroll down and under „Certification‟, complete all required
activities for the curriculum and the certification exam available under „Options‟.
Please note that the activities needed to be completed in order to renew certification will depend on whether changes have been
made to the learning path curriculum since the time the student was initially certified – however, at the minimum, the final exam
will have to be retaken every year. Below are a couple of examples.
Example 1
No changes were made to the curriculum since initial certification – i.e., the student is still up-to-date and credited for the
curriculum, and the status indicates „Completed‟ as shown below. This means that only the final exam needs to be taken which is
the only activity available under „Options‟. The process of taking the exam will be the same as during the initial certification.

Example 2
If changes were made to the curriculum since initial certification, the new version of the curriculum will have to be taken during
renewal as the student is not up-to-date and credited on the latest version. As shown below, the student will need to request the
new version of the curriculum (this option will be available under „Options‟) and complete all the required activities. Please note
that the student will not need to retake courses that are still marked as completed. Once the new version of the curriculum is
completed, the student will also have to take the final exam.

Learning Path and Certification FAQ
Q: How can I find the Learning Path curricula?
A: The easiest way to find available Learning Path curricula is by clicking the “Learning Paths” widget from the home page as
shown below:
You can also get to the Learning Paths by navigating via the “Browse for Training” widget (from the home page) and filtering by
“Certification” and “Learning Path” subjects.
Q: Can I take the Professional level curriculum without completing the Associate level
curriculum?
A: No, you need to take the Associate curriculum first as it is a pre-requisite for taking the Professional curriculum.
Q: I tried to request a Learning Path curriculum, but the following message appears. What
should I do?
A: Click “No”. You need to take the previous level curriculum before requesting the higher level, i.e. Associate before
Professional, and Professional before Expert.
Q: I have taken a number of courses before enrolling into the learning path curriculum.
Will I need to retake these courses all over again?
A: No. The courses you have already completed will be marked as “completed” and you will not need to retake them.

Q: What happens after I complete the learning path curriculum?
A: If you are a partner enrolled in the HID APP program, you will automatically be enrolled in the certification 24 hours after you
completed the curriculum. The certification contains a final exam you need to take in order to achieve a Certified status.
Q: I completed the learning path curriculum and 24 hours have passed. I still do not see
the certification on my transcript. What should I do?
A: If you are not a partner enrolled in the HID APP program, you will not be enrolled in certification. Otherwise, if more than 24
hours have passed, please send an email to training@hidglobal.com.
Q: I have been enrolled in the certification and the status is ‘In Progress’.
There is also a Due and Expiration date. What is the next step?
A: You need to take the final exam in order to achieve a Certified status. This needs to be done before the Expiration date
indicated on your transcript. The Due date serves as a reminder. Please refer to the “How to Complete Certification” section of
this document for more detail.
Q: How many attempts do I have to pass the certification exam?
What happens if I fail?
A: You have 2 attempts to pass the certification exam, with a 48-hour lockout period between the 2 attempts. If you fail the
second time, please send an email to training@hidglobal.com.
Q: I would like to review my certification exam results to see where I went wrong. How can
I do that?
A: Find the exam on your transcript, and select “View Training Details” from the drop-down menu as shown below.
Then, under “Scoring Details”, click “Review” as shown below. This will display the exam questions and indicate which were
answered correctly and which were incorrect.

Q: I have completed the certification and the status is now ‘Certified’.
What are the Due and Expiration dates?
A: Certifications are subject to annual renewal. The renewal period will start 3 months before the certificate‟s Expiration date; you
will receive an email notification when the renewal period begins. You will need to renew your certification during that time and
before the Expiration date. The Due date serves as a reminder.
Q: I did not renew my certification in time and the status is now ‘Expired’.
What should I do in order to continue maintaining the certification?
A: You can still renew your certificate from an Expired status following the standard renewal process. Once you complete all the
required renewal activities, the certification will go into „Expired/Pending Completion Approval‟ status and an approval request will
be sent to HID Academy who will decide on the next course of action.
If you do not receive a response from the HID Academy team within 5 business days of completing the renewal activities, please
