How does water move from the roots to the leaves?

Water moves from the roots to the leaves through the xylem. It is pulled upward by a
process called transpiration, where water evaporates from the leaves, creating a
suction that draws more water up from the roots.

What might happen to a plant if the xylem or phloem is damaged?

If the xylem is damaged, the plant can't move water and minerals, causing it to wilt.
If the phloem is damaged, sugars can't be transported, leading to poor growth and
energy loss.
