HOW TO LEARN
ENGLISH
2025-2026 FALL TERM
RED LEVEL – WEEK 1
A Basic Guide & How to study
English as a language learner
Let's check the learning pyramid first!
You hear and learn many things in
class.
You can easily forget them, so you
need to study later to remember
those.
IN SHORT!
What you do after
the class is
important!
Maybe you don't know
how to study...
Here is a basic guide
for you!
Let's start with what type of a learner you are!
o Are you a visual learner?
o Are you an auditory learner?
o Do you learn better by reading and writing?
o Do you learn better by watching?
o Do you learn better by taking an active part
in a role play?
Think about it! Remember you can also be a mixture!
The table below may help you choose the correct way for you to start learning
English:
VISUAL AUDITORY KINESTHETIC READ/WRITE
learn by seeing learn by hearing learn by doing learn by reading &
• charts, graphs, • read-alouds • use body movement writing
videos • listening centers • tactile-touch, feel • books and texts

✓ When we say that someone 'speaks' a language fluently, we usually mean
that they have a high level in all four skills – listening, speaking, reading and
writing.
✓ For each skill, you can use a different method(s)–(will be covered in LS &
RW classes).
Now let's see how you can study Grammar and Vocabulary
How can you study Grammar & Vocabulary?
Learn grammar and vocabulary within the context they are used.
Take note of vocabulary items:
▪ write the part of speech of the word.
▪ write sample sentences using personal experiences.
▪ make notes of prepositions and collocations the words is used with.
▪ write the common words and what they are commonly used with.
Don’t be afraid or grammar. Use reference books to study.
Use the structures and items you have learned in your speech or writings to
practice.
