Hobbies and Free Time

In today’s fast-paced world, having hobbies and enjoying free time are more important than
ever. People need time to relax, rest, and blow off steam after stressful days. Personally, I believe
that free time is not just for fun — it's also a chance to learn new things, connect with others, and
explore what truly makes us happy.
Everyone has different preferences when it comes to hobbies. While some people love
playing sports like football or tennis, others can’t stand anything that requires physical effort. I,
for instance, enjoy gardening and doing DIY projects at home. There's something deeply
satisfying about creating something with your own hands. I’m also quite keen on painting, which
helps me calm down and put my feet up after a busy week. It’s definitely worth trying, even if
you're not very good at it.
Music is another huge part of my life. I often listen to classical music when I need to
concentrate on studying or writing. Sometimes, when I’m in a great mood, I go for a walk with
my earphones on and let the music guide me. On weekends, I usually hang out with my friends at
a local pub or a coffee shop. We talk, laugh, and share our interests. Social involvement is also a
great way to stay mentally healthy.
However, not all activities are enjoyable for everyone. I honestly detest violent video games
and I loathe wasting time on social media. I simply can’t help feeling irritated when people scroll
for hours without doing anything productive. I also despise reality shows — they seem fake and
unnecessary. I’d much rather read a book or participate in a friendly competition, like a board
game night.
Sometimes, it’s hard to find time for hobbies. I always try to arrange my schedule so that I
can get around to doing things I like. Still, plans don’t always go as expected. I often have to put
off my plans because of work or family responsibilities. Once, I had to call off a hiking trip I’d
been looking forward to for weeks because of a last-minute assignment. I really regret not going
— I heard the arrival of spring flowers made the view unforgettable.
Still, I try to carry on with my passions as much as possible. I’m eager to learn new skills,
and I’m always open to trying something different, as long as it doesn’t involve anything I hate,
like karaoke (I’m really bad at singing). I’ve recently got into cooking, and now I’m completely
mad about trying new recipes. It's not just a hobby — it’s become a part of my lifestyle.
In conclusion, hobbies and free time activities are essential for a balanced life. Whether
you’re into sports, crafts, music, or nature, what matters most is doing what makes you feel alive.
Life isn’t just about work — it's about passion, involvement, and enjoying the moments that truly
count.

Speaking
Topic: Hobbies and Free Time
To be honest, I believe hobbies and free time activities are essential for a happy and
balanced life. Personally, I use my free time to relax, put my feet up, and blow off steam after a
stressful day. I think it's not just about avoiding boredom — it's about doing something that gives
your life meaning.
In my case, I'm really into gardening and doing DIY projects at home. I enjoy building or
fixing things — it helps me focus and feel creative. I’m also fond of painting, especially when I
need to calm down or take a mental break. Even though I’m not very good at it, I think it’s worth
doing just for the peace it brings.
When I want to be more social, I usually hang out with my friends. We often go to a pub,
chat, play board games, or go for a walk. I love spending time with people who share similar
interests, and I often participate in small group competitions, just for fun.
That being said, there are some activities I really can’t stand. For example, I loathe loud
nightclubs and I detest wasting hours on social media. I simply hate how addictive it is. I also
despise reality TV shows — they’re full of drama and not my thing at all.
Of course, with a busy life, it's not always easy to find time for hobbies. Sometimes, I have
to put off my favorite activities or call off plans because of work or school. Still, I always try to
arrange some time for myself. If I can’t do much, I just take five to listen to music or go outside.
Recently, I’ve got into cooking. Now, I’m completely crazy about trying new dishes and
experimenting with flavors. I used to avoid it, but now I regret not starting earlier. Cooking has
become a part of my daily routine, and I really enjoy it as long as I’m not in a rush.
In conclusion, I believe hobbies are more than just ways to kill time — they help us grow,
connect with others, and stay on the ball in life. Whatever your interest is, as long as it makes you
happy and helps you carry on, it's worth doing.

Travel and Getting Around

In today's modern world, traveling has become more accessible than ever before. Whether
people go on holiday, travel for work, or simply get away for a weekend, exploring new places is
something most of us look forward to. Personally, I dream of visiting as many countries as
possible. I’ve always had itchy feet, and I love the feeling of being on board a plane heading to
somewhere new.

Planning a trip can be exciting but also stressful. Before setting off, it’s important to make
all necessary arrangements — from booking flights and reserving accommodation, to
preparing documents for immigration or emigration, depending on the destination. I always
check in online just in case there are any unexpected delays or hold-ups. Once I arrive at the
airport, I try to go with the flow and stay calm, even when I miss a flight or lose my luggage —
which has happened before!

When choosing a destination, some people are extremely choosy. They spend hours trying
to pick the best hotel, the best beaches, or the cheapest options. I usually go for something
comfortable and simple — I’m pretty down to earth when it comes to travel style. In terms of
experiences, I prefer sightseeing, walking around cities, and learning about local culture, rather
than just lying on the beach to sunbathe (although I don’t mind that from time to time).

Once I get to my destination, I love to look around, visit museums, try local food, and
sometimes even come across hidden gems that aren’t in the travel guides. I always try to keep in
touch with family and friends while traveling and share photos of places I visit. Every other way
I can think of to connect with others on the road — whether through hostels, local events, or
chatting with the receptionist — helps make the experience more memorable.

One of the best things about traveling is meeting people from different cultures. It makes
you realize how much lifestyles differ from one place to another. Although I used to travel alone,
I now often go with friends, and we’ve learned to catch up with one another after exploring
separately. Sometimes, we even get annoyed about small things or angry with each other when
we’re tired — but that’s normal. We’re in the same boat, and it’s all part of the experience.

Of course, not everything goes smoothly. I’ve been scared of flying during storms, afraid
of getting sick abroad, and even frustrated when I couldn't pay for something due to card issues.
But despite all that, I always look forward to the next trip, because traveling teaches me
resilience and helps me grow.
To sum up, travel is more than just moving from one place to another. It's about learning,
adapting, and discovering new sides of yourself. Whether you’re picked up at the airport,
dropped off at a hotel, or checked out of a small homestay in the mountains, every moment
becomes part of your story. And honestly, I wouldn’t trade that for anything.

Education and Learning Styles

Education plays a vital role in shaping a person's future. People learn in various ways, and
understanding different learning styles is essential to improve academic performance and personal
development. While some students prefer visual materials, others benefit more from hands-on
experiences or group discussions. Whatever the method, the ultimate goal is to understand and retain
knowledge effectively.
In today’s competitive world, students are constantly under pressure to take exams, get good
grades, and pass with flying colours. Some even pull all-nighters, trying to cram for tests the night before.
While this strategy may work for some, it often leads to burnout. A more effective method is to revise,
review, and go over lessons regularly. It helps to take in new information gradually and make sense of
complex topics.
Unfortunately, not everyone succeeds on their first try. Many students fail exams, feel discouraged,
and sometimes even drop out of school. But failure is part of the learning process. It’s important to deal
with setbacks, cope with stress, and get on with your studies despite difficulties. Success comes to those
who handle challenges well and make up their minds to keep going.
One of the key skills in education is writing. Whether you're working on an essay, a report, or notes
during a lecture, being able to take down information and organize your thoughts clearly is crucial.
Students should also learn how to think over what they have learned, recognize key ideas, and pay
attention to details.
Achieving a degree, certificate, or other qualification is not just about academic success; it reflects
a student’s dedication to long-term objectives. In a classroom, working with colleagues or classmates can
offer support. Sharing ideas allows students to catch on more quickly, especially when someone else
teaches a concept from a different perspective.
Some learners complain about certain subjects or see no point in learning topics they don’t enjoy.
However, each subject consists of important knowledge that could be suitable for their future goals.
Education is not just about passing exams; it’s about developing critical thinking and learning on your
own. When students finally succeed in mastering a difficult topic, the sense of achievement is
unforgettable.
Moreover, different students may boast about being ahead of the pack, but true learning is not a
race. It’s about being on the mark, ensuring you cover all the bases, and focusing on progress rather than
competition. If something is unclear, it's okay to go into detail, ask questions, or even make up for lost
time.
In conclusion, education is a journey, not a destination. Whether you learn about science,
languages, or the arts, finding your learning style and staying motivated is key. With the right attitude,
effort, and strategy, anyone can achieve success in education — and not just survive, but thrive.

Work and Obligations

Work plays a central role in our lives. Whether we are building a long-term career, working
temporarily, or running our own business, our income often defines the kind of lifestyle we can afford.
Some people are employed by a company, a firm, or even a modern start-up, while others choose to set
up their own enterprise to gain independence.
Nowadays, the job market is more competitive than ever. Young people often apply for jobs hoping
to get a decent salary or at least a minimum wage. However, it's not just about money. A good job also
provides opportunities for promotion, professional growth, and a sense of purpose. Those who are lucky
enough to work in a supportive environment tend to be more productive and satisfied.
Of course, having a job comes with its fair share of duties and responsibilities. Employees are
expected to carry out tasks, meet deadlines, and sometimes even work overtime. Some work 9–5, while
others work around the clock, especially in demanding industries. In many companies, workers stand in
for each other when someone is on duty or absent, and everyone must be responsible for their part of
the workload.
In terms of employment decisions, things don’t always go as planned. Sometimes, people are
sacked, fired, or lose a job due to poor performance or company downsizing. Others may resign, give up a
job, or even hand in a notice when they find a better opportunity or simply want to change direction.
Some may retire early and live on their pension. Whatever the reason, it’s important to recognize that
setbacks are a natural part of any professional journey.
There are also people who are brave enough to take on challenges by creating their own start-ups.
These individuals are often go-getters, highly motivated and full of ideas. However, running a business is
not easy — one must work like a dog, manage contracts, deal with finances, and sometimes face difficult
decisions, such as turning down offers or backing out of risky deals. Still, when successful, such people
often become big fish in their industries.
Being successful at work also requires soft skills. For example, a good leader should be a people
person, be willing to learn, and know how to handle difficult situations. They might be praised for
excellent performance or praised for being better than expected. But there are also cases where the
results are worse than expected, and that's where resilience matters. Whether someone works at a
multinational company or a small family firm, they need to be capable of problem-solving, work out
solutions under pressure, and depend on or rely on their teammates.
In conclusion, the pros and cons of work and obligations are many. While a stable job offers
earnings and structure, it also brings stress and responsibility. The key is to find balance: take breaks
when needed, grow professionally, and never stop learning. Whether you’re just beginning or nearing
retirement, your journey through work shapes not just your career, but your identity.

Money and Spending

Money plays a vital role in our daily lives. It affects not only the things we
buy but also the way we think, behave, and plan for the future. Whether
we pay in cash, use a credit card, or even write cheques, money
decisions are something we all face regularly. Unfortunately, not everyone
knows how to manage their finances well, and many people end up in
debt or living above their means.

In modern society, shopping has become a habit, and for some, even a
hobby. People go shopping at the weekend just for fun, not because they
need anything. Whether in a shopping centre or a department store, we
are constantly tempted by brands, price-tags, and bright signs showing
“discount” or “reduced price”. For smart shoppers, finding a bargain can
feel like a dream come true. I personally have an eye for good deals and
always look for items on sale.

However, it’s easy to get carried away. Many people spend money
on unnecessary stuff just because it’s trendy. We forget that these are only
temporary possessions, and the value fades quickly. Some even buy things
up in bulk or fall into traps where companies charge them for hidden costs.
When the bill comes, they suddenly realize they can’t afford it. I know people
who literally broke down in tears after checking their receipt or bill. That’s
why it’s important to have spending under control.

Personally, I try to save up for things I really want instead of buying

impulsively. I often put by a little money every month. When I
finally purchase something expensive that I’ve waited for, it’s much more
satisfying. On the other hand, I also try to give away things I no longer use,
rather than hoarding or cashing in on every single item.

For people in tough situations, like those on the dole or in a pickle,

even small purchases can feel like a big deal. I’ve learned to get used
to budgeting carefully, and I try not to owe money or borrow unless it’s
absolutely necessary. If a friend is struggling, I’m willing to lend a little, but I
always set clear expectations.
Some people say you should never be a cheapskate, but I disagree.
There’s nothing wrong with being careful — it’s better than ending up broke.
In fact, pinching pennies can help you survive in difficult times. What
matters most is knowing when to spend and when to save, and never
forgetting that happiness doesn’t come from material things.

In the business world, money decisions are even more complex.

Companies try to make a profit by producing and selling to customers.
When products sell out, they may cash in on the popularity by increasing
the price. That’s why we, as consumers, need to be aware. We can’t
always bank on finding quality at a low price — sometimes you get what you
pay for.

To conclude, managing money wisely is a skill that everyone needs.

Whether you’re buying daily essentials or planning big dreams, it’s important
to be smart and not let emotions control your spending. After all, financial
freedom is not just about how much you earn, but about how well you spend
and save.

Time and How We Use It

Time is one of the most valuable resources we possess, yet many of us often fail to use it
wisely. How we spend time determines not only our productivity but also our overall quality of
life. Whether we choose to kill time with distractions or use it purposefully is entirely up to us.
Nowadays, many people live under constant pressure to meet deadlines, manage personal
commitments, and still find time to hang out with friends and family. Creating a proper schedule
is essential in such a fast-paced world. When we schedule our tasks properly, we are less likely to
feel overwhelmed or fall behind.
Some activities take time, while others seem to take ages, especially those we find boring
or difficult. On the other hand, fun moments often pass in a flash, and we may even lose track of
time while doing something enjoyable. For instance, watching the sunset, enjoying a walk at
noon, or staying up until midnight chatting with friends are simple pleasures that can make time
feel timeless.
However, not everyone uses time effectively. Some people tend to mess around, being
wasteful with their hours instead of using them to learn something new or rest. Others are too
messy with their planning and find it hard to fit in all they need to do. At work, it's important to
clock in and clock out on time, and occasionally we need to take off to recharge.
From time to time, we may feel stuck or unmotivated, but it’s important to press on. There
may be moments when we run out of energy or ideas, but with discipline, we can achieve our
goals. It helps to be punctual, avoid being premature in decision-making, and always be
prepared — just in the nick of time if necessary.
When making plans with others, it’s nice to get together or mess around a bit to relax. But
by the time we realize how quickly days pass, it may be too late to go back. That’s why time
management is crucial. We should try to avoid the habit of taking the easy way out, and instead,
focus on meaningful activities that make sense for our personal and professional growth.
Looking ahead, people often persuade themselves they’ll start fresh “tomorrow” or next
week, but if we don’t act as soon as we can, opportunities may pass us by. For instance, a two-
week break or fortnight can be the perfect chance to reset, learn a new skill, or simply enjoy
watching the sunrise every day.
At work or in life, being timely and balanced helps us stay in control. At this moment — at
this point in time — we can choose to be mindful. Time is no longer just something we manage; it
becomes something we live with awareness.
To conclude, time waits for no one. Whether we’re on the point of starting a new chapter or
ending one, we must cherish every moment. With better awareness and the right mindset, we can
make the most out of our time — just in case life takes a turn around the corner.

Eating and Drinking: A Daily Experience Beyond Survival

Eating and drinking are essential parts of human life, but they are far more than just acts of
survival. For many people, food is a source of pleasure, culture, and even identity. Whether you're
a fussy eater or someone who will try out any cuisine, the choices we make when we consume
food say a lot about who we are.
In every culture, food preparation varies. Some love to cook, bake, or grill elaborate meals,
while others prefer to microwave something quick. Whether you’re using an oven, kettle, or tea
pot, preparing food can be both an art and a routine. From chopping, slicing, mincing, to
stirring, whisking, or blending, each step has its own importance. Personally, I love to prepare
dishes from different cultures—it’s a way to travel the world without leaving my kitchen.
Still, not everyone is adventurous when it comes to food. Some people are extremely picky
or fussy, refusing to try new things. Others go for the same dish every time they eat out, despite
countless recommendations. I used to be like that too, but over time, I’ve become more open-
minded. I’ve learned that even a plate of something unfamiliar can leave you satisfied — or,
occasionally, come as a disappointment. But either way, it’s worth trying.
Nowadays, many people are also more conscious of what they eat. Some are vegetarian,
others are on a diet, and some simply want to avoid waste. Personally, I try not to throw away
food. I store leftovers in containers, keep them in the freezer, and use them later. I believe that
food deserves respect — not just because it’s costly, but because of the effort it takes to prepare it.
In the kitchen, the smallest things can make a difference. A pinch of salt, a slice of lemon, or
a bar of chocolate can transform a dish. But sometimes, we need to take things with a pinch of
salt — especially when we hear exaggerated reviews. Not everything that’s praised online will
satisfy your taste buds, and some meals are honestly hard to swallow. Still, once in a while, you
find something so good that you eat it up and pig out without regrets.
Food is also social. Whether you're dining at a fancy restaurant with a chef-curated menu, or
just having a quick meal with friends, the experience matters. Some conversations are best
enjoyed over a bottle of wine or a jar of homemade jam. And yes, sometimes we spill the beans
— sharing secrets over dessert.
Of course, eating isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes the bill is higher than expected, or
you’re left disappointed by a dry cake. You may wait too long for service or be put off by the
menu. But there’s always another meal to look forward to. And if all else fails, cooking at home is
usually a piece of cake — or at least as easy as pie!
In conclusion, eating and drinking are experiences filled with choice, culture, and emotion.
From a carton of milk in the morning to a piece of cake at night, food can connect us, comfort us,
and challenge us. So whether you’re cooking, tasting, or just sipping your tea, take a moment to
appreciate what’s on your plate.

Health and Fitness: A Lifelong Commitment

In today’s fast-paced world, health and fitness have become more important than ever. With
increasing levels of stress, poor diets, and a sedentary lifestyle, more and more people are becoming
prone to various illnesses and diseases. As far as I know, staying healthy is not just about avoiding
sickness, but also about keeping in shape, being active, and having the awareness to make the right
choices.
When people fail to look after their health, they may suffer from exhaustion, tiredness, or even
more serious conditions like heart disease. Sometimes, all it takes is exposure to unhealthy habits or a
contagious virus to cause long-term damage. As one can imagine, poor health is likely to result in both
physical and emotional suffering.
On the other hand, regular exercise, such as going to the gym, jogging, or doing a simple workout,
helps improve strength, flexibility, and boosts mental clarity. Whether you’re warming up your muscles,
stretching your tendons, or training to build stronger ligaments, the goal is to get your heart pumping and
push yourself within healthy limits.
However, fitness does come with risks. Some people injure themselves by overtraining, resulting in
bruises, scrapes, or even broken bones. I once dislocated my shoulder while lifting weights without
proper form. I was in terrible pain, and the area began to swell up almost instantly. The doctor prescribed
antibiotics and medicine to prevent infection and reduce swelling, and I had to take pills and tablets for
weeks.
Others might be in pain due to minor injuries like scratches or soreness from intense training. It’s
important to know when to stop and give up temporarily, or even cut down on your sessions if you're
feeling unwell. Don’t risk life and limb just to meet your goals. Sometimes, people pass out or vomit from
pushing themselves too hard — these are serious signs that should never be ignored.
Maintaining health isn’t just about physical training — nutrition also plays a crucial role. Many
athletes sign up for food plans or diet programs to ensure they don’t put on unnecessary weight. Others
might be on a diet, trying to control calorie intake. If someone feels they can’t feel up to exercising,
maybe they just need to get over a minor cold, or they’re still recovering from a tough session.
Moreover, mental fitness matters too. Sometimes we complain about being tired, stressed, or
demotivated. When that happens, it’s okay to mess around a bit or relax. Still, it’s essential not to
completely get rid of your routine. Following suit with people who stay active can help keep you
motivated.
Sadly, some people don’t take their health seriously until it’s too late. They may only begin to care
when a disease brings on complications or when someone they know passes away from preventable
conditions. Others might break down, feel like they’re made of glass, and even fear going outside due to
illness. That’s why raising awareness is so critical in our communities.
To sum up, living a healthy lifestyle is about balance. Whether you choose to work out, train, or
simply take a walk, what matters is consistency. Take time to rest, eat well, and always take care of your
body and mind. It may not be easy, but with commitment and effort, good health can be a reality for
everyone.

Unit 9: People and their lives (Con người và cuộc sống của họ)
People and Their Lives
People are social beings by nature. From the moment we are born, we start to grow up surrounded
by family, friends, and communities. The relationships we build during our lifetime have a huge impact on
our personality, values, and the way we live.
In residential areas, people often chat with neighbours, meet new residents, and get along with
those who live in the same building or street. In my experience, living on the outskirts of a city doesn’t
mean being lonely — it often provides a close-knit community where people give a hand when needed
and keep an eye on one another’s homes. These acts of kindness help build trust and meaningful
relationships.
Some people are naturally sociable, talkative, or even chatty, while others are more solitary and
prefer their own company. Neither way is better than the other; what matters is that people feel
comfortable being themselves. Still, fitting in with a group can sometimes be challenging, especially for
those who stand out due to their unique personality or background.
Social life can also be filled with ups and downs. Arguments happen, especially among
argumentative individuals, but most people are willing to listen and learn. In close friendships, it’s normal
to laugh at silly things together, chill out after a long day, and even have fun with small daily moments. I
personally look up to people who remain lively, kind, and supportive, no matter what life throws at them.
Unfortunately, not all people are positive. Some boast too much about their success or become
envious of others’ achievements. These behaviours can damage friendships and make others
uncomfortable. Still, it's important to be patient and put up with differences when possible.
Over time, people change. They may get married to someone, reside in a different place, or start
new friendships. Ever since I moved to a new city, I’ve met many inspiring inhabitants who support one
another through good and bad times. Whether you live in a big city or a small village, what matters most
is being surrounded by people who care.
At its height, a person’s social life can bring joy, growth, and unforgettable memories. And for a long
time to come, I believe the ability to connect with others will remain one of the most important parts of
human life.

Technological Advances, Communication, and the Media

In the 21st century, technological progress has changed every aspect of human life — from how we
communicate to how we manage daily tasks. Thanks to continuous research and innovation, our world is
now more connected, efficient, and informed than ever before.
One of the biggest changes brought about by technology is in communication. Nowadays, people
keep in touch through social media, video calls, and instant messaging. We can now surf the net, get up
to date with the latest news, and even catch up with friends who live thousands of miles away — all in
real time.
However, this transformation didn’t happen overnight. It took years of investigation, testing, and
development. Scientists and engineers had to work on countless projects, carry out experiments, and
come up with creative solutions to make the internet and smartphones what they are today. Behind every
app and website, there are people who understand how to make things tick.
Technology has also changed how we receive and interact with the media. On average, people
spend hours a day online, consuming content, forming opinions, and sometimes even blowing a fuse over
controversial topics. While this freedom of expression is important, it also means we must be careful with
what we believe and consider the source of our information.
In terms of challenges, technical issues are still common. Devices can break down and need to be
repaired, fixed, or mended. Sometimes we forget to plug in our laptops or fail to turn off unnecessary
apps, leading to system crashes. Still, users have become more tech-savvy, often able to work out simple
problems without expert help.
Technological progress is not just about convenience; it also has deeper implications. Many people
focus on how these developments affect our behaviour, relationships, and thinking patterns. As a result of
being constantly online, some individuals become more distracted, and even reluctant to spend time
offline or engage in face-to-face conversations.
Yet, all in all, the benefits of technological advancements are undeniable. From medical
breakthroughs to smart homes, we are witnessing the result of decades of hard work, dedication, and
brilliant minds. In an attempt to improve our lives, humanity has truly transformed the way we live, think,
and interact with the world.
As we move forward, we must ensure that technology continues to serve us, not control us. If used
wisely, it can help us achieve incredible goals — securely, efficiently, and creatively.

Unit 11: Wildlife and the environment (Động vật hoang dã và môi trường)
In recent decades, the natural world has been facing serious threats due to human activities. Many
species are endangered or have already become extinct, while the environment continues to suffer from
pollution, climate change, and natural disasters. It is time we face up to the consequences of our actions
and take responsibility for protecting the planet.
Every year, tons of rubbish, waste, and garbage are dumped into the oceans and forests, seriously
contaminating our water and soil. People often litter public places without thinking twice. Although
campaigns to recycle and reuse materials have been introduced, many still turn a blind eye to
environmental issues.
One major issue is climate change, caused by global warming and the excessive release of
greenhouse gases. Factories and vehicles give off harmful emissions that damage the atmosphere. As a
result, we experience more frequent droughts, floods, hurricanes, and even tsunamis. These disasters
threaten not only wildlife but also human lives and homes.
Another factor harming animals is deforestation. Forests are being cut down at an alarming rate to
construct buildings and roads, destroying the habitats of countless species. As forests disappear, so do the
animals that depend on them. If this continues, more species will die out in no time.
Fortunately, many people have started to stand up for the environment. Activists are working hard
to raise awareness and call for stronger laws to protect nature. Governments and organisations now take
into account the impact of industrial projects on wildlife, and more individuals are choosing eco-friendly
lifestyles.
We must all be aware of the importance of small actions. Sorting trash, reducing plastic use, and
planting trees may seem like minor steps, but together they can make a difference. Being considerate of
the environment is no longer optional — it’s essential.
All in all, protecting the environment is a shared duty. Whether it’s saving an endangered animal or
preventing a forest fire, we must act on purpose and with determination. The future of the planet
depends on what we do today.

Life, Crime and Society

Modern society is built on laws, rules, and regulations that aim to protect people and
ensure justice. However, crime still exists in many forms — from petty thefts to serious acts like
murder or bribery. Understanding how crime affects society is the first step in preventing it and
creating a safer environment.

One major issue in urban life is robbery, especially in crowded public areas where criminals
often mug or pickpocket innocent people. While thieves tend to steal quietly, robbers use
violence, and burglars break in to homes or businesses to commit crimes. Sadly, some criminals
even beat up their victims before fleeing.

To handle such crimes, law enforcement must act fast. Police arrest suspects and look into
each case carefully. If there is enough proof, the criminal is charged with a specific crime and
may be prosecuted in court. If found guilty, they may face serious punishments, including jail
time or fines.

However, there are cases where innocent people are accused of crimes they didn’t commit.
That’s why it’s crucial to protect the rights of both the victim and the accused. In the eyes of
justice, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

In some countries, corruption is another serious problem. Bribery and corrupt behavior by
public officials can damage trust and cause harm to entire communities. When leaders take
bribes, they often ignore the purpose of laws and act only in their own interest. In such cases,
citizens must stand up for what is right and report wrongdoing, even if it means telling on
someone powerful.

It is also important to consider how media influences our view of crime. Sometimes, news
stories exaggerate facts or let the cat out of the bag too early, which may affect court decisions or
damage reputations. We must always be in doubt of what we hear and think critically, especially
if something smells fishy.
Ultimately, preventing crime starts with education and respect. Teaching young people to
follow the law, respect others, and understand the impact of their actions helps build a more
peaceful society. No one is born a criminal — but without guidance and opportunity, anyone
might get away with something dangerous.

In conclusion, while crime is a serious challenge, it is not unbeatable. With strong laws, fair
punishment, and responsible citizens, we can protect our communities and ensure that everyone

Unit 13: Design and creativity (Thiết kế và sáng tạo)

Design and Creativity in Modern Society

In today’s fast-moving world, creativity plays a key role in every aspect of life. From
fashion to technology, creative minds constantly dream up new ideas that change the way we
live, think, and express ourselves. Whether it's designing a new costume, developing a product, or
creating modern architecture, creativity is the heart of innovation.

One of the most visible areas of creativity is the fashion industry. Some people always try to
dress up, follow the latest trends, and be in fashion, while others prefer a more traditional style.
However, not everything that is fashionable is practical. Sometimes, what looks good might not
fit the person well or might even be completely useless in daily life. Still, many are willing to pay
high prices for fashion that costs an arm and a leg, simply because they want to be attractive or
stick out of the crowd.

Interestingly, fashion also reflects identity. While some people are dressed to kill, others
might dress like a tramp, but still feel confident. As long as someone has good fashion sense,
their appearance will usually make a positive impression. Still, we should avoid judging others
only by their looks or seeing life through rose-tinted glasses.

Beyond fashion, creativity also drives progress in industries such as manufacturing and
media. Designers lay out plans, set up teams, and produce amazing works of art, ads, or even
buildings. Success in these fields depends not just on talent, but also on hard work, enthusiasm,
and the ability to work out problems effectively.

Thanks to technology, creativity can now be distributed globally. Designers can supply
people around the world with ideas, products, and inspiration. Even a glimpse of a new design on
social media can attract millions. This shows that with the right tools and attitude, anyone can
succeed in creative fields.

In conclusion, creativity is more than just making something look good. It's about solving
problems, expressing emotions, and shaping the future. Whether you're designing clothes, writing
stories, or building apps, creative thinking will always be a powerful force in modern life.

Unit 14: Happiness and relationships (Sự hạnh phúc và những mối quan hệ)

Happiness and Relationships: The Power of Human Connection

Happiness is not only about success or wealth — it's mainly about the quality of our relationships.
Whether it’s a partner, a sibling, a colleague, or even just an acquaintance, the people around us have a
huge impact on how we feel.
In romantic relationships, couples often experience both highs and lows. When everything goes
well, people feel like they’re on cloud nine or even jumping for joy. They may fall for each other quickly,
and before long, they might even tie the knot. However, no relationship is perfect. Sometimes, people fall
out with each other or have an argument over small things. In such situations, it's important to show
tolerance and be willing to put up with differences.
With family and friends, the key is to get along with and look after each other. Being moody,
furious, or impolite can easily damage a good relationship. Instead, we should act sensitively, show
politeness, and try to understand others. Sometimes we have to pull ourselves together and not let small
problems turn into big issues.
At work, strong relationships with colleagues help create a positive environment. When people get
on well, they can rely on each other and solve problems as a team. On the other hand, if someone
constantly picks on others or looks down on them, it can lead to tension and even conflict.
Romantic or not, meaningful relationships require patience, respect, and good communication. We
should bear in mind that everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect. If you truly care about someone,
being able to forgive, tolerate, and agree with them at times is essential.
In conclusion, true happiness comes from being surrounded by people who care about us. Whether
we’re crazy about someone, have butterflies in our stomach, or simply enjoy a good laugh with a friend,
human connection is what makes life worth living. So let’s cherish our relationships and build them with
love, understanding, and respect.
