Library Database

Purpose
The purpose of this database is to maintain a database of
books in a library. This database would help students in
finding books and will a also assist the librarian to track
the books in the library.

System Users
There are mainly two types of users to this system:

Will be able to search for books depending on the category or


which class they are
Give an easy way to look up their books
See where they are located in the store
Knowing whether the book is available

Librarian
Record the information regarding books in a library i.e. book title,
author, publisher and category of the book.
Will be able to search for students that have a hold of each book
Know who is responsible if a book is damaged, lost or stolen

There are many database rules associated with this


database. These rules are important to track a book. Some
of them are:
BookISBN
AuthorID
PublishedID
Category ID
Student ID

Business Rules

BookISBN: Unique book number


AuthorID: Every author has a unique ID
PublishedID: Every book publisher has a unique ID
CategoryID: book are categorized in categories, each
category has unique ID
StudentID: Every student has a unique ID

There are 3 data entry forms to record information regarding:


Books
Author
Published
There is also a Menu form for navigation purpose.

The data entry forms would be provided to the librarian


whereas the reports providing search result would be given to
the students to looking for book.

Concurrency Controls
There are mainly two categories of the user i.e. librarian
and students.
Librarian is only authorize for data entry
Student is only authorize to search book.
Therefore the currency problem may not exist with this
database
