Descriptive text is used to describe and provide details about characteristics of people, objects, places or events. It has a generic structure of identification, description, and sometimes other details like size, shape, color, smell, sound or even feelings and emotions. The purpose is to create a mental picture or sensory experience for the reader. An example descriptive text describes a butterfly, identifying it, where it lives, its physical features like colors, scales, legs, body parts, wings and eyes.
