OBJECTIVE 1
Plot a conversion Graph
This table shows how much you can earn after working a
certain number of hours.
Put this data into a conversion graph and then use your
graph to answer the questions that follow.

EXTENSION
1) Tea is sold at a school fete between 1.00 pm and 2.30 pm. The numbers of cups of tea that had
been sold were noted at half-hour intervals.
(a) Draw a graph to illustrate this information. Use a scale from 1 to 4 hours on the horizontal
time axis, and from 1 to 120 on the vertical axis for numbers of cups of tea sold.
2.15pm
(b) Use your graph to estimate when the 60th cup of tea was sold.
2) I lost my fuel bill, but while talking to my friends I found out that:
Bill, who had used 850 units, was charged £57.50
Wendy, who had used 320 units, was charged £31
Rhanni, who had used 540 units, was charged £42.
(a) Plot the given information and draw a straight-line graph. Use a scale from 0
to 900 on
£500
the horizontal units axis, and from £0 to £60 on the vertical cost axis.

ASSESSING UNDERSTANDING QUESTION
Leon is travelling from Paris to Calais.
When he sets off he has enough fuel to drive about 100 miles.
Sometime into the journey he sees this sign.
Does he have enough fuel to get to Calais or will he have to visit a petrol
station?
Justify your answer.
No, as 100 miles is approximately 160km. He has
travelled 75km and has 125km to go which is a total of
200 kilometres
Plenary :What have you learnt?
Draw your brain
In your brain, write or draw everything you can remember about
converting from one unit to another using a conversion graph. It can be a
skill or a reflection, or something else that might be prominent in your
brain.
