  COMPONENTS OF COMPUTER,CPU 4  What is components of computer?  The periferial parts of the computer which can be connected or can connect to the computer to perform some operation or to do some basic function.  For example:  Mouse  Keyboard  C.P.U

Hardware :  Computer hardware is the collection of physical parts of a computer system.  This includes the computer case, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.  It also includes all the parts inside the computer case, such as the hard disk drive, motherboard, video card, and many others. Computer hardware which you can physically touch.  EX:- Monitor Keyboard Mouse. etc

For example, without your Internet browser software, you could not surf the Internet or read this page. Without an operating system, the browser could not run on your computer.   COMPONENTS OF COMPUTER,CPU 7  What is central processing unit (CPU)?  CPU is known as Central processing unit. It is the unit which performs most of the processing inside a computer.  It is also called as microprocessor or processor. It is the brain that runs the show inside the Computer.  CPU consist of transistors, that receives inputs and produces output. Transistors perform logical operations which is called processing.

  COMPONENTS OF COMPUTER,CPU 8  Parts of Central processing unit (CPU):  Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU):  It is the part of computer processor (CPU) used to perform arithmetic and logic operations.  The Arithmetic and Logic Unit which performs all the arithmetic and logical operations such as addition, subtraction, etc.

  COMPONENTS OF COMPUTER,CPU 9  Control Unit (CU):  A control unit (CU) handles all processor control signals.  It directs all input and output flow, fetches code for instructions from microprograms and directs other units and models by providing control and timing signals.  A CU component is considered the processor brain because it issues orders to just about everything and ensures correct instruction execution.

The computer memory is a temporary storage area.  It holds the data and instructions that the Central Processing Unit (CPU) needs. Before a program can be run, the program is loaded from some storage medium into the memory.  This allows the CPU direct access to the program. Memory is needed in all computers.
