     Motivation

 LMS will become more and more indispensable

 It is important for teachers to be aware of how students learn

 Learning analytics is a key factor for improving teaching and learning

 LMS store user interaction data that can be analyzed

                                                                             3

Why is this useful – an example

Number of accesses to non compulsory quizzes in a course with over 50 students

                                                                                 4

     Project Goal

The goal of our project is to develop a tool to analyze usage data of learning
management systems in depth for different education providers:

      Own data model

 Structuring usage data for analysis

              Data anonymization

      Intuitive GUI

                                                                                     5

Motivation – LAMA – Pivot Tables – Conclusion
     Adaptation to the User

 GUI with three different levels:
      Quick overview
             • Specific charts
      Personalized overview
             • Pivot Tables
      For professionals
             • More statistics, data mining…

                                                                      6

 View of all courses of a teacher after log in through moodle

 Selecting the Courses to analyse
 Chose which analysis type you want
 Download it by clicking the submit
    button

                                                                     7

     What is a Pivot Table

 A Pivot Table is a highly
    flexible contingency table

 It offers the possibility to look
at one sector at a time from a
    large dataset

 For Excel the following
    formats are needed:
 Headlines in the first row
      No empty rows or
       columns are allowed
      Empty fields are possible

                                                                 8
