NGO-in-a-box (BaseBox) is a collection of open source software tools designed to meet the specialized technology needs of non-profits. It contains peer-reviewed FOSS tools for running small to medium NGOs, including office suites, project management, website creation, and systems administration. The BaseBox provides a cost-effective alternative to proprietary software, avoids technology lock-in, and promotes autonomy among users. However, some FOSS tools have poor documentation and steep learning curves that BaseBox does not fully overcome.
