Case study 4: NOPD Use of Force Data
New Orleans Police Department releases their ‘use of force’ data openly to improve accountability & transparency, furthering public trust
in the police as well as awareness about police actions
Data:
-Black people accounted for 77% of all searches
-Black people represented 68% of those stopped by officials
(Data representing use of force incidents based on the
race of the subject from January 2016 to present.
