Safe spaces should be included and supported on campuses but the university in its entirety must not
become a safe space.
I believe that safe spaces should be allowed on campuses because, safe spaces allow students to feel
comfortable and speak without being judged while also assisting students in need and helping to form
strong relationships. However, I don t think the entire university must become a safe space because I
still believe that safe spaces can prevent conversations on controversy.
To start off, Timothy Garton Ash says in his article that a student explains safe spaces as areas on
campus where students especially but not limited to those who have endured trauma or feel
marginalised can feel comfortable talking about their experiences , and gives the example of a Hillel

Though my copy of The Dharma Bums now resembles more a grade school child s workbook with

a. The field of anthropology that I find to be most interesting is anthropological linguistics. Personally,
I believe this subdivision is so interesting because it is so diverse and covers so much ground on how
our language and others have evolved over time. Ranging from early cave writings, to sign language,
to the language and slang we all know and use today, language among not only our cultures but also
others have vastly changed and there is proof of this that dates back to ancient times. The mere
complexity of our current language is beyond what past civilizations could have even imagined it
would come to be. What I find to be very interesting is the fact that even today our upbringing, social
class, or cultural norms, can define how we speak. For instance, there are certain slangs or terms that
someone may say because they were brought up around people who spoke using that kind of
language. While this is true for some, but not all, children of an upper class parents may grow up
speaking very formally, and be taught to not use any slang or vulgar words. They continue using this
vocabulary further on in life because it is what they were taught to do. This can also be applied to any
other social class, or even differ between people from different geographic locations. Linguistics is
often learned and adopted from generation to generation and from civilization to civilization.

There have been problems with gun laws in the past. Most of them are ineffective or they never get
passed. Recently, gun laws have been surfacing around the news. President Barack Obama wants to
ban certain guns and attachments, but Obama is taking the wrong approach. Instead of banning guns
outright, which he cannot do because it is our second amendment right to own guns, he should
approach reducing gun violence in a different way. Here is a quote from John Ashman saying that
eliminating certain guns does not stop gun violence: All firearms by nature are deadly, so eliminating
certain kinds of firearms doesn t directly address the issue in any meaningful way (Ashman para. 2).

Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an inherited disorder that produces sickle or crescent shape red blood
cells. Thus, the mutated erythrocytes result in an inadequate supply of oxygen being transported
throughout the body. Research shows that among those affected the most with the sickle cell gene are
African Americans. In recent years, we have seen a decrease in mortality and morbidity rates as a
result of new approaches to treating the disease. The more we understand the pathophysiology of
sickle cell anemia, the more we learn about developing therapies for genetic disorders such as SCA. In
this paper, we will briefly discuss what sickle cell anemia is and possible treatments for people with
sickle cell anemia such as gene therapy and new drugs.
What is sickle cell anemia?
Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder. This missense mutation is
characterized by mutant beta globin subunits that tend to stick together (Cummings, 2014). As a result,
abnormally shaped red blood cells are produced by this disorder. The erythrocytes are sickle or
crescent shaped. Sickling occurs under hypoxic conditions, in which there is insufficient supply of
oxygen delivered throughout the body (Sun Xia, 2013). In order to inherit this monogenic disease, one

worried because he knew that two of his daughters were diagnosed with diabetes and he did not want

In order to explain the questions of whether or not Chavez has increase or decreased democracy in
