Graham Norton says Hollywood star 'refused to sit down' on his chat show

Graham Norton has been the host of his own chat show for over a decade and has interviewed some of the biggest stars in the world, but one Hollywood actor refused to sit next to him

Graham Norton spilled the tea on his famous chat show seating drama during Grace Dent's Comfort Eating podcast. The beloved television host shared tales from his life - including a stint in a San Francisco commune - but it was his talk show insights that really grabbed Grace's interest.

She quizzed him about the coveted seat next to him on his BBC One show, and Graham admitted: "That does happen weirdly, it's our fault really. What we should have done all along was mix it up, so that the biggest star wasn't near to me, but now it is seen as the person sitting next to me is the biggest star on the sofa."

He also let slip that despite his A-list status, Bradley Cooper has never snagged the prime spot beside him, saying: "Which sometimes means that huge stars for whatever reason have never sat next to me. Bradley Cooper has never sat next to me. There has always been someone more famous than him."

When Grace pressed on whether any celebs had ever swapped seats last minute, Graham revealed: "That has happened once. They walked out together, they were two actors, they walked out together and one of them was supposed to be sitting next to me and the other one just didn't sit down. He just waited."

He humorously concluded, "It was quite something to see," reports the Mirror.

Graham has been a household name for decades, thanks to the enduring success of his talk show. The show first aired on BBC Two in 2007 before making the switch to BBC One two years later.

Since then, it has only grown stronger, bagging numerous awards including the British Academy Television Award for Best Entertainment Performance three times.

The Graham Norton Show is all set to make its comeback on BBC One on Friday, September 27, for its 32nd season. The star-studded lineup includes Demi Moore, Lady Gaga, Colin Farrell, and Richard Ayoade.
