Kelly Osbourne 'will not be ok for a while' as she says she's 'holding on tight' after Ozzy's death
Kelly Osbourne has shared a tearful tribute to her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, following his death at the age of 76, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease
Kelly Osbourne has shared a heartfelt tribute to her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, on social media following his passing. The iconic Black Sabbath frontman passed away at the age of 76 nearly two weeks ago, as announced in a family statement signed by Sharon Osbourne and four of his six children.
The legendary singer, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019, was "with his family and surrounded by love" at the time of his death. The family statement read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."
Kelly, who had previously dismissed rumors of her father's declining health just weeks before his death, took to social media to express her gratitude for the outpouring of support she received. She said: "I've sat down to write this a hundred times and still don't know if the words will ever feel like enough... but from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
"The love, support, and beautiful messages I've received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain.
"Grief is a strange thing-it sneaks up on you in waves-I will not be ok for a while-but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I'm holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind. Thank you for being there. I love you all so much.", reports the Mirror.
She concluded by writing: "Kelly #BirminghamForever #OzzyForever".
Kelly managed to get engaged in front of her father at his farewell performance just weeks before his passing.
Earlier this month, Ozzy appeared on stage as part of the Black Sabbath reunion, telling thousands of heavy metal fans at Villa Park – just a short distance from where the group was formed in 1968 – that it was "so good to be on this stage" as he delivered his final performance from a massive black throne.
Ozzy and his fellow founding Black Sabbath bandmates were the final act to take the stage as part of the star-studded lineup for the Back to the Beginning concert.
After the incredible show, the Osbourne clan received a wonderful surprise when Kelly's longtime boyfriend, Sid Wilson, got down on one knee in front of her parents; Ozzy and Sharon.
The following day, Kelly, 40, shared the exciting news on Instagram, posting a clip of the moment the Slipknot musician proposed to the former reality TV personality.
Alongside the video, Kelly wrote: "Oh, and this happened yesterday."
In the heartwarming clip, Sharon can be heard whispering: "We've got to be quiet, hold on," as she quieted the backstage staff. Sid, who is now engaged to Kelly, was heard saying: "Kelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world. But Ozzy, ever the joker, interrupted Sid's heartfelt proposal with a playful: "F*** off! You're not marrying my daughter."
Despite Ozzy's humorous interruption, Sid laughed it off and continued his proposal to Kelly. He passionately said: "Nothing would make me happier than spending the rest of my life with you. So, in front of your family and all of our friends, Kelly, will you marry me"
The 40-year-old spun around in surprise, her hands covering her face before she nodded 'yes'. The video then showed Sid presenting the beautiful ring as one of Kelly's friends jokingly shouted 'about time', teasing Sid, who has a son with Kelly, for not proposing sooner.
A flood of flowers, messages, and tributes left in Birmingham in honor of the heavy metal legend are being relocated today before being given to his family. Thousands of fans have visited the Black Sabbath Bench on Broad Street in the musician's hometown to leave bouquets, wreaths, posters, balloons, candles, and cards since he passed away at the age of 76 on July 22.
