Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist of KISS, has tragically passed away at age 74, just days after Diane Keaton.
His family confirmed his passing after he was hospitalized due to a brain injury. Frehley had an unfortunate fall at his studio in early October and was put on life support following a brain bleed, which happened shortly after President Trump mispronounced KISS' name at an event in August.
"We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth," Frehley's family shared with USA Today.
"We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace's memory will continue to live on forever!"
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Frehley's estimated net worth was around $1 million.
He amassed this wealth from touring, record sales, solo projects, and royalties from his decades with KISS.
Merchandise and licensing deals also contributed to his fortune. His solo album in 1978 featured New York Groove, a Top 20 hit.
However, in 2013, his home in Yorktown, New York was foreclosed due to unpaid debts totaling over $735,000. He also faced missed tax payments and mortgage interest penalties.
Born Paul Daniel Frehley on April 27, 1951, in the Bronx, he was raised in a musical household.
His high school buddies gave him the nickname "Ace". He became a member of KISS in 1973 after impressing Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss during an audition.
Frehley was famous for his "Spaceman" persona and on-stage antics.
During solos, his guitar would spew smoke and fireworks.
From 1976 to the early 2000s, Frehley was married to Jeannette Trerotola. The couple had one daughter, Monique, who was born in 1980.
In a joint statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Stanley and Simmons wrote, "I am devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley. He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of KISS’s legacy. My thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world."
