Ozzy Osbourne's family visits pumpkin mural honoring the late Black Sabbath star
The late Black Sabbath frontman was honored with a pumpkin mural in the United Kingdom. Ozzy Osbourne's family recently paid a visit to the loving tribute after his July death.
Ozzy Osbourne's death spurred a myriad of tributes, including a pumpkin mural.
His family, including his wife Sharon Osbourne, paid a visit to Sunnyfields Farm in Totton, Hampshire, England to view the artistic display. Sharon was joined by her children, Jack Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne. Kelly's fiancé Sid Wilson and their son Sidney took the trip with the group, too.
The Black Sabbath frontman died in July at the age of 76 following a final show with the band. The news struck hard as his family said in a statement, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis."
Sunnyfields Farm chose to honor the rock legend, making a mural of over 10,000 pumpkins. In the depiction, Ozzy wears his glasses and a cross necklaces. He is shown depicted by bats as a nod to his dark persona and the current fall, Halloween season. It took over 16 hours to create.
Farm owners Tom and Ian Nelson allowed the public to decide what to create in their pumpkin mural. Tom told BBC, "Even though we think something is a good idea, it might not be so we put it out to the public. So, 70% of the people said 'it's got to be Ozzy this year. So we let the public decide."
The love for Ozzy hasn't gone missed by his family, who has seen the outpour of support. Sharon opened up, writing on Instagram, "Your comments, posts, and tributes have brought me more comfort than you know. None of it has gone unnoticed, in fact, it’s carried me through many nights."
She shared a photo of herself at a falconry, reflecting on how the birds offered a more reflective perspective for her. She said, "Though I’m still finding my footing, I wanted to share some glorious creatures I had the chance to spend an afternoon with. The connection you make with these powerful birds is built entirely on trust and confidence. They’ll choose to perch on you only if they sense you are safe and unafraid of them. It’s a bond I know all too well, and the experience was nothing short of magical."
Sharon concluded, "I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way."
Ozzy faced health complications in the years leading up to his death. However, he did get a final hoorah as he performed with his band for the last time just ahead of his death.
