Horror fans sent into a frenzy as Netflix adds 'best movie of the year'
Netflix has added one of the biggest horror movies of 2025 to its streaming platform.
Netflix fans were thrilled yesterday when the streaming service revealed that one of 2025's most eagerly awaited horror movies has landed on the platform.
Horror lovers across the US can now watch the 2025 release I Know What You Did Last Summer on Netflix, dropping just in time for the Halloween season.
The movie, based on the iconic 1997 film of the same name, takes place 27 years after the Tower Bay murders from the sequel. The ensemble includes Madelyn Cline as Danica Richards, Chase Sui Wonders playing Ava Brucks, Jonah Hauer-King as Milo Griffin and Tyriq Withers as Teddy Spencer.
Freddie Prinze Jr and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprise their iconic roles as Ray and Julie, while Sarah Michelle Gellar delivers a standout cameo appearance, reports Devon Live.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Netflix shared the exciting announcement that the movie is now available to stream, along with a clip featuring Gellar's scene.
Posting on X, horror fans shared their thoughts on the new release, with many viewers showing their excitement.
One fan wrote: "I can't believe I'm saying this but this is the best legacy sequel/requel so far. It takes big swings and has fun doing it.
"Netflix just made my weekend perfect," another viewer raved, while a third stated: "I loved this movie, for me this is the best movie of the year."
Opinions on the film were split, with one viewer stating it was "okay" but "nothing like the original", while another complained: "This movie felt forced and not needed at all."
On the other hand, many Netflix users were delighted, with one fan calling the film "amazing", and another praising the cameo by Gellar, saying: "I loved this cameo."
The Rotten Tomatoes summary for I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 is as follows: "When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences.
"A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they're forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer... and is hell-bent on revenge.
"As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help."
