Shakira says she thought she had accidentally exposed Rihanna's pregnancy news at Met Gala
During an interview at the 2025 Met Gala, Shakira was concerned that she had accidentally spilled the beans on Rihanna's big pregnancy news
Shakira was struck with fear as she briefly believed that she was solely responsible for revealing Rihanna's pregnancy news at the 2025 Met Gala.
During an interview on the blue carpet, the Hips Don't Lie hitmaker was worried as she thought she had accidentally spilled the beans on Rihanna's big news. Speaking to CBS News, the 48-year-old singer said: "Yeah, yeah I wanna see her! [Rihanna] Yeah I want to see her so bad. And I just heard the news too - she's pregnant."
After a moment of awkward silence Shakira's eyes grew wide as she asked: "Was I not supposed to say that?" But Shakira's fears were soon set at ease as Rihanna's partner A$AP Rocky happily confirmed the news himself.
During the star-studded event, A$AP spoke to CBS Mornings and expressed his excitement for baby number three. When asked what Rihanna was going to be wearing, A$AP replied: "Rihanna's outfit tonight is...I don't know, whatever, just don't really cover her baby hump, ya dig? [laughs]."
This was the case as the famous R&B singer stepped out in a glamorous look that perfectly showcased her blossoming baby bump. For the event, Rihanna was seen rocking a look designed by Marc Jacobs which featured a black floor-length skirt, cropped black jacket, and a gray bustier that hugged her stomach. She paired the stunning look with a black top hat, black-and-white heels, and a red polka-dot scarf.
As for A$AP's look, the rapper - who served as a co-chair for the Met Gala - was seen wearing a tailored sleek black suit that he designed himself. His stylish look perfectly encapsulated this year's theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," which was aimed to explore the role of clothing and style in shaping Black identities.
Rihanna's pregnancy announcement comes as the singer already shares two children with A$AP. The famous couple have welcomed two kids together during their relationship, including their two-year-old son RZA Athelston Mayers and one-year-old son Riot Rose Mayers.
But this isn't the first iconic public pregnancy announcement that Rihanna has made - back in 2023 Rihanna revealed the news of her second pregnancy during her Half Time Show during the Super Bowl LVII. As for her first pregnancy in 2022, Rihanna also publicly announced the news as she and A$AP posed for photographs in New York City.
