“You know I’ve never been married by the way,” she started, laughing. “Just want you to know.”

Ellen then asked, “Right, but you don’t want to get married?”

Diane cleared up the misconception very quickly, revealing, “Oh, I’d like to get married yeah. You got that wrong.”

After the talk show host burst into laughter, she admitted, “I didn’t know that you wanted to get married.”

“Oh very bad,” the actress said.

Diane went on to confess the real reason she hadn’t tied the knot with anyone.

“What happened was nobody ever asked me, “ she confessed.

Ellen responded sympathetically, saying, “Well, somebody will now.”

Diane lightened the mood, joking, “No, I don’t think so. Not after this show.”

Despite not having much success in the marriage department, the actress still had her fun in the Hollywood dating scene. At different points in her career, she was involved with fellow stars like Warren Beatty and Woody Allen.

The man she was mostly entangled with was Al Pacino, who she met while filming the hit crime film The Godfather. The two dated on and off from the late 1970s through the 1990s.

The two had ended things after the actress reportedly gave the actor an ultimatum about marriage and he refused.

Nevertheless, the actors stayed friends and Al has honored the impact Diane had on his life.

"When I first heard the news, I was shaken," he told Deadline. "Diane was my partner, my friend, someone who brought me happiness and on more than one occasion influenced the direction of my life. Though over 30 years has past since we were together, the memories remain vivid, and with her passing, they have returned with a force that is both painful and moving."

Keaton is survived by her two kids, Dexter and Duke, who she adopted years after her relationship to Al.
