Sam's Club making major Sunday change after 'overwhelming feedback' from members

Following 'overwhelming feedback' from its members, Sam's Club has announced it is extending its operating hours on Sundays and will be open from 8am to 8pm daily

Sam's Club has announced that it will soon be extending its opening hours on Sundays.

The membership-based warehouse club used to be open from 10am to 6pm on Sundays. But starting on October 12, it will be open from 8am to 8pm every day, including Sundays. The decision comes after "overwhelming feedback" from its members, according to Steven Zapata, director of corporate communications at Sam's Club.

Zapata said the new simplified opening hours will apply to most clubs, with just a few exceptions. Plus members, the highest-tier membership level offered by Sam's Club, will still be able to shop early.

They will get early access to stores from 8am to 9am daily. Sam's Club will then open to all who have memberships at 9am. Sam's Club is also making some changes to its holiday hours, Zapata told USA today.

Warehouses previously closed at 6pm local time on Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and New Year's Eve, they will now remain open until the usual time of 8pm local time on those holidays.

It's just one example of how Sam's Club has been making changes after listening to its members requests recently. Back in June, the retailer finally answered customer pleas for certain services.

The company provides a food court for members to enjoy while shopping, and one of the most popular items is its pizza. Now, fans can enjoy the hot dish from the comfort of their own home, as the pizza is available for delivery.

The company's pizza, known as Member's Mark Hot Baked Pizza, became available for nationwide delivery in May. Customers can choose from three toppings – pepperoni, cheese, and four-meat – with a full pizza priced at just $8.98

To order the pizza, customers can use the store's app or visit SamsClub.com. After selecting their preferred toppings, they simply select "Delivery."

When arranging delivery, shoppers can choose a time window or opt for "Express Delivery," which promises pizza at their doorstep in less than three hours from the time the order is placed.

Kurt Hess, group director of Operations and Implementation at Sam's Club, stated in a news release: "When we talk about innovation, it's not just about what's new - it's about what makes life easier for our members.

"Pizza delivery is a perfect example: it brings together value, convenience and one of our most-loved Café items in a way that fits how people shop today."

The wholesale giant is also set to scrap both manned checkouts and self-service stations. Sam's Club is rolling out its innovative "Scan & Go system," which allows shoppers to scan items with their mobile app and pay on the spot.

This initiative is part of a larger campaign to "redefine the club model and set a new standard in retail." It comes amid significant changes at Sam's Club.

In April, the company announced plans to renovate all 600 locations, open 30 new clubs, and establish a strategy to launch around 15 new clubs each year. Five stores were opened by September.
