Michigan mom and boyfriend beat boy, 7, to death in 'demonic ritual' as pelvis destroyed

A 7-year-old boy was reportedly beaten and tortured to death in 2023 by his mother's boyfriend, who also captured the disturbing event on camera

A Detroit mother and her "sick, demonic" boyfriend were sentenced to decades behind bars after they were convicted of abuse and murder in connection with the death of her 7-year-old son.

A judge on Thursday sentenced 25-year-old Alisha Hollamon to 20-40 years in prison, while her boyfriend, Avion Traylor, 23, got a heftier 28-60 year sentence. Both pleaded guilty to homicide charges in connection with the brutal death of Deshawn Williams, 7.

Williams reportedly died in 2023 from blunt force trauma to his head and pelvis. The now-convicted couple was subsequently charged with felony murder, first-degree child abuse, and torture. In terms of the latter charge, Wayne County Third Circuit Court Judge Paul Cusick reportedly viewed a video in which Williams is heard "crying for his life" as his parents brutalized him.

"It was one of the worst things, probably the worst thing I’ve seen or heard," Cusick said, adding that he's been serving on the bench for nine years.

The case did not go to trial, so no further details of the boy's murder and suffering have been made public. "There are absolutely no words to describe how brutalized Deshawn was," the prosecutor said. "Based on the facts and evidence that we have, Deshawn lived a nightmare."

Before the sentencing, Krystal Hollamon, the victim's aunt, gave a tearful statement assailing Traylor as a "sick, demonic, ritual-like" killer. There were no words to describe the heinous deed he had committed against a young child, she said, adding that the 23-year-old's "mom gave birth to a demon."

According to the grieving aunt, there were glaring red flags that were ignored. Both Traylor and Alisha opted not to address the court when given the chance, so their attorneys spoke on their behalf.

The attorney representing Alisha Hollamon said her client was being tormented by grief, fear, disbelief and guilt over her failure to save her son. She added that the mom was abused by Traylor as well and was mustering up the courage to stand up to him in order to rid herself of the abuser.

Cusick swatted any suggestion that the mom was a victim, determining that Alisha Hollamon played a hand in William's abuse and even fed the police fabricated stories. Traylor also lied to the police and tried to shift the blame for the 7-year-old's death onto others.

In what appeared to be a last-ditch effort to circumvent a harsh sentence, Traylor's attorney motioned the court to withdraw the 23-year-old's guilty plea, arguing that his client was coerced by law enforcement. The motion was ultimately denied.
