Migrant who 'offered $10K bounties to kill ICE agents on TikTok' arrested with 'loaded gun'
According to the DHS, Aguilar had a firearm in his possession at the time of his arrest.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reports that it has arrested a man allegedly offering bounties for the murder of ICE agents.
The federal agency released a picture of 23-year-old Eduardo Aguilar to X on Friday, captioning the post “the illegal alien who offered $10,000 bounties on TikTok for the murder of our brave ICE agents has been ARRESTED in Dallas, TX.”
Fox News reports that Aguilar had a loaded firearm in his possession at the time of his arrest. DHS added that they were “thankful” that he was arrested “before he could kill one of our law enforcement officers.”
“The Trump administration will not back down from these threats, and every criminal, terrorist, and illegal alien will face American justice,” the caption read.
Aguilar was federally charged with transmitting in interstate or foreign commerce a communication containing a threat, the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Texas said in a Thursday news release. The statement added that he was in the country illegally from Mexico.
According to the affidavit, Aguilar posted a video on Oct 9 that shows a photo of Dallas with text in Spanish on top of it that reads: "I need 10 dudes in Dallas with determination (guts) who aren't afraid to [two skull emojis]" Aguilar allegedly used the emojis to represent the word “die.”
Aguilar allegedly offered $10,000 for each ICE agent killed, the affidavit states. Officials say they then connected the account that posted the message to Aguilar, reports NBC News.
Aguilar made his first court appearance on Wednesday afternoon in front of a United States Magistrate Judge in Dallas, according to the news release. The judge ordered that he stay in federal custody. If convicted, Aguilar faces a maximum of five years in federal prison.
“Threats against our law enforcement officers are completely unacceptable,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Nancy E. Larson. “All threats against our agents and officers will be investigated thoroughly, and anyone who threatens or puts a bounty on agents will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.”
“The FBI takes threats of violence to our law enforcement partners seriously and will thoroughly investigate anyone that commits these types of offenses,” said FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock.
The DHS also issued a warning of “FAFO” to TikTok users posting videos about ICE bounties. FAFO is an acronym for F—Around and Find Out, often used on the internet.
The DHS reposted a TikTok video on its X account, showing a group of young men standing on a track and field. Text on the video reads: “ ICE, We’re on the way. Word in the streets cartels put a $50K bounty on y’all.” One of the young men also pulls up a ski mask above his nose and mouth as the video pans out.
The DHS responded to the video in a caption saying:
“FAFO. If you threaten or lay hands on our law enforcement officers we will hunt you down and you will find out, really quick. We’ll see you cowards soon.”
