Woman gives birth to record-breaking baby bigger than a three-month old
Shelby Martin, from Tennessee, has shared photos of herself with a giant baby bump - followed by snaps of her baby's enormous size and the internet is in disbelief
A mom has given birth to a record-breaking baby boy who weighed in at nearly 13lbs.
Shelby Martin shared a photo of her massive baby bump and additional snaps of her newborn son, Cassian, whose extraordinary size has made him an internet sensation and landed him on local news broadcasts in Nashville, Tennessee.
In a hospital picture taken before labor began, she was all smiles with a caption that read: "When people talk about having a big baby like idk ball. But trust me... I know ball." The news emerges as one family reveals they keep their children up until midnight, raising them to be ‘night owls’.
To put it into perspective, the average weight of a 3-month-old baby is around 12 pounds, with boys generally weighing slightly more than girls, reports the Express.
Local TV station WSMV featured a photo of Cassian at Tristar Centennial Women's Hospital, confirming he was the largest baby born there in the last three years.
Adding to the special occasion, Shelby gave birth to her son on her own birthday, calling him her "greatest gift".
The photos have since racked up over four million likes on TikTok and 35 million views.
Many commenters were amazed at the newborn's size, joking that he already looked like an adult.
One person commented: "I usually don't advocate for 'push presents', but girl, you better demand EVERYTHING."
Another joked: "Did he drive y'all home afterwards?".
A third asked: "Congratulations, but like are you ok?" Other responses included: "Please tell me you did a C-section" and "How did they get him out?"
The baby's grandmother took to Instagram to explain his need for hospital care after birth due to potential glucose level issues in larger babies. She wrote: "Cassian has been in the NICU since almost immediately after the c-section.
"When it comes to big babies sometimes when they are born their glucose levels are out of wack and they need to be monitored. He is on an IV and oxygen.
"They will be keeping him overnight. I have not gotten to hold him in my arms or kiss his skin. I miss my son so bad but I know he is in good hands. I cannot wait to love on him."
However, she later shared a photo of him doing well in the hospital, exclaiming: "Oh my God! ! ! He is perfect! ! I could just eat those cheeks up!".
It comes after a huge update on President Donald Trump's potential pardon for P Diddy.
