'Monster' dad who 'raped daughter in street in front of her young brother' arrested

Sources claim the 40-year-old man was caught red-handed by police in the Spanish city of Lleida after the woman he was with said she had been forced to have sex with him

A man in Spain was arrested for allegedly raping his own daughter in the street while her 8-year-old brother watched. The 40-year-old man was reportedly caught in the act by patrolling officers near the location of the alleged assault.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday outside La Llotja, a theater and congress center in the Catalan city of Lleida. After asking for identification, police discovered the man and woman were father and daughter.

The alleged victim was transported to Arnau de Vilanova University in Lleida, less than two hours west of Barcelona, after stating she had been forced into sexual intercourse.

According to respected regional newspaper Segre, her 8-year-old brother was present during the incident and was later taken away and returned to his mother.

Local police from Lleida City Hall have prepared a report for the Mossos d'Esquadra force of the Catalan region, which is now investigating whether the man may have abused his daughter on other occasions.

While there has been no official statement from either police force, sources close to the case have confirmed the arrest.
