Brewers 'Karen' loses job after threat to 'call ICE' on Dodgers fan
The Milwaukee Brewers 'Karen' reportedly lost her job after threatening to 'call ICE' on a Latino Los Angeles Dodgers fan following the team's dominant Game 2 win to take a 2-0 series lead
The "Karen" who verbally accosted a Dodgers fan after Los Angeles' 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, which saw ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto achieve a feat 21 years in the making, has reportedly lost her job in the aftermath of the incident.
In Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, Yamamoto proved himself to be worth every penny the Dodgers paid, with Los Angeles shelling out $325 million over 12 years to sign the Japanese ace. At the plate, the Brewers were left stunned, notching only three hits in the complete game.
Considering how dominant the Dodgers were on the mound, thanks to Yamamoto, and at the plate, picking up 11 hits to go along with the five runs, Los Angeles' fans were pretty happy taking a 2-0 series lead back to the City of Angels. However, there were some Brewers fans who were not thrilled to see Milwaukee in a hole, including a "Karen."
In a short clip that went viral, a Latino Dodgers fan — Ricardo Fosado — was asking the Brewers fans around him: "Why is everybody quiet?" Before he could ask a second time, a woman, now identified as Shannon Kobylarczyk by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, replied: "Real men drink beer, p----."
Undeterred, Fosado continued to jeer the opposing fans around him. Kobylarczyk, seemingly fed up, tapped the man in front of her and declared, "Ya know what, let's call ICE."
Fosado immediately fired back, encouraging Kobylarczyk to "call ICE" and then stating that he was a United States citizen and a war veteran, having fought in two wars. He added, "ICE is not gonna do anything to me. Good Luck!" as she tried to swipe his phone away from his hand before leaving with a message: "F------ idiot."
In the aftermath, Kobylarczyk lost her job as a lawyer at ManpowerGroup, a recruiting agency based in Milwaukee, and resigned from her position as a member of the board of directors for the Milwaukee division of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, according to the Journal Sentinel and Yahoo! Sports.
“As soon as we became aware of this video, the individual was placed on immediate leave, and we began an investigation. As a result of this process, the employee is no longer with the organization. We remain committed to maintaining a culture grounded in respect, integrity, and accountability,” a ManpowerGroup rep told Yahoo! Sports.
The nonprofit added: “Shannon Kobylarczyk resigned from the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin Board of Directors on Wednesday, October 15, effective immediately. Make-A-Wish Wisconsin does not condone nor agree with Kobylarczyk’s words and actions."

Furthermore, the Brewers banned both Kobylarczyk and Fosado for failing to adhere to the ballpark's rules.
“The Brewers expect all persons attending games to be respectful of each other, and we do not condone in any way offensive statements fans make to each other about race, gender, or national origin. Our priority is to ensure that all in attendance have a safe and enjoyable experience at the ballpark," the organization's statement to Yahoo! Sports began.
“In this instance, the Milwaukee Police Department dealt with the individual who was ejected for actions apart from the events depicted in this video, including disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Separately, video shows that the other individual involved in the argument became physical in the course of her interactions with the person who was ejected.
“For these reasons and in accordance with our Guest Code of Conduct specific to ejections and physical confrontations, both fans are being notified that they are not allowed to return to the ballpark for future events."
