LeBron James drags Taylor Swift into Stephen A. Smith feud and leaves no doubt how he feels
LeBron James has addressed his incident with Stephen A. Smith earlier this month when the NBA superstar had approached the ESPN analyst over words said of his son and teammate in Bronny James
LeBron James has finally opened up on how he really feels about Stephen A. Smith and the incident that took place between them earlier this month, while having a few more jabs for the ESPN personality.
James had approached Smith during a Los Angeles Lakers game just a few days after the latter had been on the air discussing Bronny James' NBA struggles. Speaking on his personal YouTube show and ESPN's First Take, Smith insinuated that Bronny did not deserve to be in the NBA playing with the Lakers, with James taking exception to that.
During a timeout in a Lakers game earlier this month, James had found himself near Smith who had been courtside, as he was seen taking out his mouth guard before telling Smith: "Keep my son out of this s--- bro."
Smith looked surprised by the confrontation, later admitting he had not expected James to approach him in such a manner. He has since discussed the incident on numerous shows, including his own as well as appearing on a number of podcasts in which the confrontation is regularly brought up
When appearing on the Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday, James was asked about the incident with Smith before bringing up Taylor Swift's name, comparing Smith's media obligations in which he brings up the occasion to the pop superstar's lengthy tour dates.
James said: "He's on like a Taylor Swift tour run right now... it started off with him saying that he didn't want to address it, but since the video came out that he felt like the need to address it. Mother------, if there's one person who could not wait to address it... it's your ---.
"What I do know, is that he completely missed the whole point. Missed the whole point. Never would I ever not allow to talk about the sport, criticize players what they do on the court... it is your job. It's part of the game.
"But when you take it and you get personal with it, it is my job to protect my damn household, but protect the players. I think a lot of the media, including him... And I know he's going to be smiling from ear-to-ear when he sees this. He'll grab some ice cream out of the ------- freezer and sit in his chair. Like, relax bro."
This had been the first time that James had addressed the incident at length, clearly still having bad blood with Smith after the incident.
