Luka Doncic moving into custom $25M LA home built by tennis icon
Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has reportedly bought five-time Grand Slam singles champion Maria Sharapova's home in Manhattan Beach for a whopping $25 million
Luka Doncic is putting the money from his new contract to good use after the Los Angeles Lakers star paid $25 million for a sprawling mansion previously owned by a tennis icon.
Last month, Doncic and the Lakers agreed to terms on a three-year, $165 million max extension — further solidifying him as the present and future face of the franchise.
According to the Daily Breeze, Doncic locked down his permanent home in Los Angeles several weeks later, upon buying a three-story house in Manhattan Beach, where five-time Grand Slam singles champion Maria Sharapova used to live.
The property — which Doncic reportedly acquired through his business manager, Lara Beth Seager — features five bedrooms, a pool, and a two-lane bowling alley.

“I’d jump off a plane from a tournament and go straight to the worksite or to the architect’s office or to a kitchen manufacturer. This was my project, and I wasn’t going to delegate any part of it.”
While giving the outlet a private tour of her house, Sharapova revealed that she and KAA Design — a high-end residential design firm based in Los Angeles — aimed to create a “Japanese-inspired home” just a short walk away from the beach.
“So I've always wanted a Japanese-inspired home by the beach,” she explained. “You enter the home in this beautiful courtyard with this Japanese pine and a fountain that we created especially for the space. And then you enter into this double triple height ceiling which gives you so much air and space and light and makes you feel like you're at the beach.
“I love homes that have an indoor and outdoor feel and I think the light plays a big part into this home's atmosphere.”
The residence includes several unique features, including a pool that is practically a part of the great room. “Usually you have the pool and then a lawn and the home, but I wanted the pool really close to the home,” Sharapova said.
“I didn't want that lawn space in between the pool, I wanted to see the water from the kitchen. So getting it as close as possible to the home was a challenge, but we got there.”
In the basement, Sharapova installed a fully functional bowling alley. “When I was designing this home we wanted to do a basement, and dimensions of the property were quite long,” she added.
“I ended up seeing a few different models of bowling alleys from the architects that worked on my home and when I saw it I was like, ‘How amazing would it be to have a bowling alley.’
“I'd say it is the most surprising aspect of this home because I'm not a bowler myself and I occasionally come and bowl down here with a few of my friends, but it's a lot of fun and it's very loud. We make sure that no one's sleeping.”
