Google Chrome users warned to stop using browser immediately and restart it for key reason
Google has fixed a bug in its Chrome web browser that was being actively exploited by hackers
If you're using Google's Chrome as your web browser, it's time to hit the restart button without delay. The tech giant has just announced an update that patches a bug in this widely-used internet search software.
While it may not seem like a big deal, this new release is critical and has been tagged with the dreaded "zero-day" rating. A zero-day threat implies that hackers are aware of the vulnerability and are actively exploiting it.
"Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2025-5419 exists in the wild," Google stated in an update on its security pages.
It's now crucial to head over to the settings and ensure everything is up to date. If not, you'll need to relaunch your browsers immediately.

"The Stable channel has been updated to 137.0.7151.68/.69 for Windows, Mac and 137.0.7151.68 for Linux which will roll out over the coming days/weeks," Google further added.
According to Google's most recent update, the CVE-2025-5419 issue stems from an "out of bounds read and write in V8". This was reported by Clement Lecigne and Benoît Sevens of Google Threat Analysis Group.
As long as you reboot your browser, you won't be affected, so it's a good idea to check and make sure everything is current.
