File Types

In Procreate, you can import and export work across a wide variety of image formats.

Procreate Format

Every artwork you make in Procreate saves as a .procreate file format on your iPad. This format is unique to Procreate.

Using Procreate's native file format has several benefits.

1. Your artwork loads faster, and takes up less space on your iPad.

2. Your .procreate files are easy to share with other Procreate artists.

3. Your progress is automatically saved in Procreate while you draw. This way you never need to worry about saving while you work.

4. The .procreate file format also stores video data inside your image file. This allows you to view and share a Time-lapse Replay of your art works creation.

Procreate can also open and save files in many other popular formats.

Procreate supports most major image formats, PDF, video and two 3D file formats.

File Types for Export

You can share your artwork in any the formats listed above. You can also share them as PDF, PNG Files, Animated GIF, Animated PNG, Animated MP4, MP4 and HEVC.

3D Painting files can also be exported as USDZ and OBJ.
