2015 Grammy Award winners list: Sam Smith, Beyonce, Pharrell Williams and Beck are triumphant

The nominees for the 2015 Grammy Awards have been announced and British star Sam Smith is leading the way with a whopping six nods

Sam Smith might hate the Adele comparisons, but he pulled 'an Adele' at the 2015 Grammys as he scooped most of the night's biggest awards for his hit Stay With Me.

The British newcomer won two awards for Darkchild Version of Stay With Me, and was also awarded Best New Artist.

The 22-year-old also picked up the award for best pop vocal album for his debut LP, In The Lonely Hour.

"I want to thank the man who this record is about, who I fell in love with last year. Thank you so much for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys," Smith said as he accepted his gramophone-shaped trophy for record of the year.

Elsewhere Beck managed to pick up the award for album of the year for his Morning Phase LP, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and of course - Sam Smith.

His album scored him an impressive haul of three Grammys, including best rock album.

Elsewhere, Beyonce took away Best R&B Performance for her track Drunk In Love with her husband Jay Z and she also won Best R&B song for the track.

The 57th Grammy Awards is one of the biggest nights on the music calendar, with a star studded guest list turning out to walk the red carpet.

Held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, Hollywood's finest cleared their calendars to make sure they showed their face at the ultra glamorous event - as well as all the pre-Grammy parties too.
