The Platform fans disturbed by 'f****d up' story of new Netflix horror movie

New Netflix horror film The Platform has caused a stir on social media as the terrifying new thriller from Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia is rather distrubing

New horror film The Platform has left Netflix viewers on social media extremely disturbed.

The Spanish thriller first premiered at Toronto International Film Festival last year and is from director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia.

The plot follows a group of inmates who are imprisoned inside a vertically-shaped dwelling known as The Hole.

This prison is meant to treat all the prisoners equally by lowering food with a platform to each level.

However, the prisoners higher up the structure begin to hoard and take more of their fair share, resulting in discord, violence, and dark intent.

The chilling scenes provide a social commentary many of us can understand and it feels especially relevant in the current climate of panic buying during the coronavirus pandemic.

The scenes prove incredibly intense and, naturally, Netflix viewers at home have shared their thoughts on the riveting new horror movie.

One fan wrote on Twitter: "If you think that basement situation in Parasite scared you. And you wanna see how privilege and inequality brutally plays out in the confines of a multi-leveled state-of-the-art prison, then go watch The Platform on Netflix RIGHT NOW."

Another viewer concurred, writing: "This movie is f****d up."

"Just finished #ThePlatform on Netflix and wow. An experience," noted a different fan.

Elsewhere, another Netflix user commented: "netflix putting out The Platform to basically open our eyes to the garbage society we live in today."

"Mannn I just watched “The Platform” on Netflix. Very disturbing but also eye opening," opined a different fan. "I enjoyed it, nevertheless. Would recommend."
