Star-studded film hailed 'punk cabaret' leaves fans 'stoked' with first trailer
Maggie Gyllenhaal's new film is a bold take on one of the world's most compelling stories
Warner Bros has just released a chilling new trailer for an upcoming film directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, the sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
The American actress and filmmaker, who is wed to actor Peter Sarsgaard, has also cast her brother and spouse in the film.
Jessie Buckley and Oscar winner Christian Bale headline the cast of the monster movie, which offers a daring interpretation of one of the world's most captivating tales.
Set in 1930s Chicago, a scientist resurrects a murdered woman to serve as a companion for Frankenstein's monster.
The film, titled The Bride!, is set to hit cinemas on 6 March, and fans have already begun sharing their thoughts on the trailer.

The synopsis teases: "A lonely Frankenstein (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) to create a companion for him.
"The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!"
Back in August 2023, reports emerged that a fresh take on the 1935 classic The Bride of Frankenstein was in development for Netflix.
Yet by the end of that same month, World of Reel revealed that Netflix had scrapped the project following the 2023 Hollywood strikes, choosing instead to back a different Frankenstein production from Guillermo del Toro.
Come November 2023, Warner Bros stepped in to rescue the film.
The Bride will be released in cinemas on March 6.
