Volodymyr Zelensky last night candidly admitted he was "not happy" with a bombshell proposal made by an envoy for the Kremlin following Vladimir Putin's call with Donald Trump.
Zelensky and Trump sat down for a major meeting today following their White House bust up earlier in the year.
Among the other subjects discussed was a proposal made by a Kremlin envoy following Putin's call with Mr Trump a day earlier, calling for a tunnel between Russia and Alaska. Mr Zelensky said he was "not happy" with it when asked by the US President.
Starmer and Zelensky hail 'productive call' with European leaders
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hailed a "productive" call with European leaders on Friday, hours after the Ukrainian leader met US President Donald Trump at the White House.
Mr Zelensky and senior Ukrainian officials had lunch with the US president in Washington, a day after Mr Trump spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister called for a "just and lasting peace" in Ukraine.
"Productive call this evening with ZelenskyyUa, other European leaders and SecGenNATO," he said.
"I reiterated our unwavering commitment to Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, the UK will continue to send humanitarian aid and military support."
Downing Street confirmed Sir Keir spoke with Mr Zelensky to "underscore the United Kingdom's resolute support for Ukraine".
Donald Trump calls on Kyiv and Moscow to 'stop where they are'
President Donald Trump on Friday called on Kyiv and Moscow to “stop where they are” and end their brutal war following a lengthy White House meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Trump's frustration with the conflict has surfaced repeatedly in the nine months since he returned to office, but with his latest comments he edged back in the direction of pressing Ukraine to give up on retaking land it has lost to Russia. “Enough blood has been shed, with property lines being defined by War and Guts,” Trump said in a Truth Social post not long after hosting Zelenskyy and his team for more than two hours of talks.
“They should stop where they are. Let both claim Victory, let History decide!” Later, soon after arriving in Florida, where he's spending the weekend, Trump urged both sides to “stop the war immediately” and implied that Moscow keep territory it’s taken from Kyiv.
Trump says meeting with Zelensky was 'very interesting' as he calls for end to war - with no mention of Tomahawk missiles
Mr Trump has now recounted his discussions with Mr Zelensky on his social media platform Truth Social, saying the meet was "very interesting" but not mentioning Tomahawk missiles while calling for peace.
He wrote: "The meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine was very interesting, and cordial, but I told him, as I likewise strongly suggested to President Putin, that it is time to stop the killing, and make a DEAL! Enough blood has been shed, with property lines being defined by War and Guts.
"They should stop where they are. Let both claim Victory, let History decide! No more shooting, no more Death, no more vast and unsustainable sums of money spent. This is a War that would have never started if I were President. Thousands of people being slaughtered each and every week — NO MORE, GO HOME TO YOUR FAMILIES IN PEACE!"

Full menu as Trump - Zelensky meeting takes place over 'working lunch'
Mr Trump and Mr Zelensky's meeting this afternoon is another critical opportunity to discuss important issues between the two nations - but some of the discussions will take place over food.
The meet is officially a "working lunch" and will see the two world leaders tuck into a three-course meal while speaking about Mr Zelensky's requests for support.
A menu card set atop a golden plate in front of the two delegations sat on either side of the grand table in the White House cabinet room lists the food as the following:
- A Fall green salad with crispy artichokes, shaved fennel and a lemon vinaigrette
- Pan-roasted chicken served with sweet potato hash, fricassee of snap peas, arugula and rosemary aioli
- McIntosh apples and caramel chiffon with clementine ice cream and blackberry sauce
'They don't want to f*** with the United States' -Trump swears while speaking about Venezuela
Mr Trump, having briefly been diverted to matters concerning Venezuela before ending the White House discussion, said that President Nicholas Maduro has tried to offer the US "everything" in a desperate bid to calm tensions between the nations.
He said Maduro had done everything in his power because Venezuela doesn't "want to f*** with the United States". He stopped taking questions immediately after.
Trump says he is concerned Putin is trying to buy time in war
When asked whether he is concerned Putin is trying to buy time in the war by speaking with Mr Trump, the President said: “Yeah I am, but I’ve been played all my life by the best of them, and I came out really well, so it’s possible.”
Tomahawks 'could mean big escalation' Mr Trump says
Donald Trump is now directly parroting the words of Putin allies, claiming that supplying Ukraine with Tomahawks "could mean big escalation".
The statement comes after key Putin allies suggested the transfer of missiles could "escalate" into a "nuclear conflict" in a bid to dissuade the possible deal.
'I like stopping people from being killed' Trump says
Mr Trump has said he likes "stopping people from being killed" while claiming responsibility for having settled eight conflicts since taking office, a massively disputed figure, while grumbling about having not received a Nobel Prize.
The US President has greenlit multiple missile strikes on boats leaving Venezuela, killing their occupants, on the back of intelligence it has not shared publicly. The administration claims the strikes are "narco-terrorist" related.

Putin and Zelensky 'doing a great job' negotiating
Mr Trump has said there is "tremendous bad blood" between Mr Zelensky and Putin, stating this is holding up peace agreements after he was asked who is doing the better job negotiating.
He said both presidents are "doing a great job" in negotiations following his call with the Russian despot on Thursday evening.

Putin could face arrest if he travels to Budapest
Vladimir Putin risks arrest if he travels to Hungary, an EU state that sits in the middle of several other pro-Ukrainian nations - including Ukraine itself - who are signatories to the International Criminal Court.
Hungary is in the process of leaving the court, and didn't comply with its warrant for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu during a visit earlier this year, but other nations like Poland, Romania or Ukraine are party to the Rome Statute treaty that established the international court more than two decades ago.
Putin may have to fly over these nations to reach Hungary, and discussions are now undergoing as to whether he could be arrested while in transit over a nation's airspace.
Why the first meeting between Trump and Zelensky went so badly
The next coming meeting between Mr Trump and Mr Zelensky will be another major opportunity for the general public to see how the pair's relationship has developed - if at all.
The first major meet in February saw an almost complete breakdown in relations between the two administrations, with the pair - and VP JD Vance - coming nearly to blows in the Oval Office in full view of the world. The two Americans came out looking the worst, having bellligerently descended on the Ukrainian with repeated criticism.
Mr Vance famously said: "You should be thanking the president for trying to bring an end to this conflict." The dressing down was seen as a political opportunity for the VP, who used the moment to shore up his Republican base, who are typically more pro-Russia and against the US supporting Ukraine.
Relations between the two nations have cooled over the last few months, and they are operating on a more amicable level.
As Trump calls for peace in Ukraine, he threatens more conflict in Palestine
Donald Trump has threatened to go into Gaza and kill Hamas days after the ceasefire came into effect.
The US President issued the threat as he accused Hamas of killing people in Gaza. However, he didn't provide further details of the alleged killings he was referring to. He wrote on Truth Social: "If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
The latest warning came after Trump downplayed internal violence in Gaza by saying on Tuesday that Hamas had taken out "a couple of gangs that were very bad". "That didn't bother me much, to be honest with you," he said.
Donald Trump post immediately after discussion with Putin reveals details of call
Donald Trump has revealed he and Russian despot Vladimir Putin are set for another face-to-face meeting just months after their controversial get together earlier this year.
The two presidents took part in a phone call this evening which saw them touch on trade and the war in Ukraine, as Mr Trump tries to secure another feather in his cap, despite having threatened to blow up the deal he brokered between Palestine and Israel in a recent statement. At the culmination of the call, the US President and Putin agreed to meet, the former said in a lengthy post on Truth Social, with "high level advisors" due to connect as soon as next week.
He wrote: "At the conclusion of the call, we agreed that there will be a meeting of our High Level Advisors, next week. The United States’ initial meetings will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, together with various other people, to be designated.
"A meeting location is to be determined. President Putin and I will then meet in an agreed upon location, Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can bring this 'inglorious' War, between Russia and Ukraine, to an end. President Zelenskyy and I will be meeting tomorrow, in the Oval Office, where we will discuss my conversation with President Putin, and much more. I believe great progress was made with today’s telephone conversation."
Providing Tomahawks could cause 'nuclear war', Putin allies argue
Putin and his allies have been widely opposed to the bid to supply Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, having spoken out against the prospect multiple times.
The missiles would allow Ukraine to strike within Russian territory more effectively, so the objections make sense, with Belarusian dictator and longtime Putin ally Aleksandr Lukashenko among those fiercely opposing the potential move. He warned this week that Tomahawks could lead to "a nuclear war".
Speaking to colleagues in Minsk, he said: "Tomahawks will not solve the problem. They will escalate the situation to a nuclear war."
US visit to revolve around one thing: Tomahawks
Today's visit to the Oval Office is primarily focused on one thing: Tomahawk missiles.
The missiles are some of the most advanced in the world. There are several types of the ammunition and they can carry different warheads, including nuclear if necessary, after being advanced from various types of platform.
Their flexibility would make them a critical aid to Ukraine in the war against Russia, and Mr Zelensky plans to use them tactically to target Russian energy facilities, further damaging the country's already flailing economy and its ability to carry out attacks over the border.
White House trip to be Zelensky's third this year
The White House trip will be Volodymyr Zelensky's third in the space of a year, with previous visits having taken place in February and again in the summer.
The first visit of the year famously ended in disaster when Mr Trump and his Vice President, JD Vance, blew up at the Ukrainian leader in a belligerent exchange that saw the VP ask whether he had "said thank you" to the US for its assistance.
Meeting follows Trump-Putin phonecall that dimmed Tomahawk hopes
Today's meeting comes less than a day after Donald Trump spoke with Vladimir Putin in a conversation that appeared to dim hopes that Ukraine might receive Tomahawk missiles.
Despite having previously signalled that the US was leaning towards sending the middiles, in the Oval Office on Thursday, Mr Trump seemed to suggest his administration would keep hold of its supplies of the artillery. He told reporters: “We need Tomahawks for the United States of America too. We have a lot of them but we need them. I mean, we can’t deplete for our country."
