Donald Trump has revealed he and Russian despot Vladimir Putin are set for another face-to-face meeting just months after their controversial get together earlier this year.

The two presidents took part in a phone call this evening which saw them touch on trade and the war in Ukraine, as Mr Trump tries to secure another feather in his cap, despite having threatened to blow up the deal he brokered between Palestine and Israel in a recent statement. At the culmination of the call, the US President and Putin agreed to meet, the former said in a lengthy post on Truth Social, with "high level advisors" due to connect as soon as next week.

Once those initial talks are concluded, he added, the pair will meet at an "agreed upon location", which he revealed would be Budapest, Hungary.

Donald Trump has said he and Putin will meet again

He wrote: "At the conclusion of the call, we agreed that there will be a meeting of our High Level Advisors, next week. The United States’ initial meetings will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, together with various other people, to be designated.

"A meeting location is to be determined. President Putin and I will then meet in an agreed upon location, Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can bring this 'inglorious' War, between Russia and Ukraine, to an end.

"President Zelenskyy and I will be meeting tomorrow, in the Oval Office, where we will discuss my conversation with President Putin, and much more. I believe great progress was made with today’s telephone conversation."

Hungary was likely chosen by Mr Trump as a meeting location due to its current leadership, with Viktor Orban, the country's prime minister, having emerged as an ally of US conservatives and having been described as pro-Putin.

When Hungary - which is largely dependent on Russia for its oil supply - assumed presidency of the council of the EU, Mr Orban opted to visit Moscow, causing massive controversy after claiming he wanted to use the position to unite Europe.

The news of the meeting came as Mr Trump said Putin had "congratulated me and the United States on the Great Accomplishment of Peace in the Middle East", adding: "I actually believe that the Success in the Middle East will help in our negotiation in attaining an end to the War."

But Mr Trump has threatened to blow up the fragile deal between Israel and Hamas, saying in an earlier post on his social media site that he would "go in and kill" Hamas if it failed to live up to the parameters of the peace deal.

He wrote: "If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
